Persuasion Series 1 by Alan Svejk: "Operation Monument"

If you have ever wondered, how that PSYOPS and Persuasion work, I have a pure, clear andhighly detailed example for you. Czech Republic may seem as a peripheral country of lowworld importance, but we are really good at this here. Quote: "Even the Americans willcome to learn from us." Believe me, this will be no boring school theory and rubbish, butvery practical and illustrative description, so you´ll see everything in unprecedently detailedcolors and close-ups!

It must be mentioned, that all operations, persons and organizations in the following„Persuasion series” are purely fictional. It was manufactured artistically for my publishedbook "Svejk 2: The Army Elite", set in the environment of the special military operations,particularly the branch "Civil Affairs". In this case, it means, that an Army launches somespecial activities in the civilian sector, to achieve the status when "people will like the Armymore".

The mission of the "Special Military Unit C102: PSYOPS" is"to gain wide public support for the military assignments bymeans of PSYOPS methods" and "to promote the Higher PublicInterests". To deceive foreign Intelligence services, designationof the Unit was deliberately chosen to resemble the 102ndSpecial Forces Reconnaissance Battalion, only with "C" letterin the name, meaning "Civilian", because the Unit operatesmostly in the civilian environment, but it also has someadditional combat tasks in a case of state emergency.

The Army, as the result of some internal struggle for power between high officials, and afterone of the PSYOPS officers was inspired at the specialized PSYOPS course at Fort Bragg(USA), allows to launch a very special PSYOPS/Public Relations/Civil Affairs project, toinnovate their operations and "once again lead the world", and releases some money for it,plus gathers a small team (of civilians, not active military personnel).

In practice, a shell corporation is established, that fictional ´Agency for Special Projects´,without any direct connection to the Army (mentioned officer is temporarily discharged forbeing ´not suitable for field duty´). The duration is set to one year. There is some budget –500.000 USD in general, with basic costs (salaries, rent for the office, etc.) about 140.000

USD – so 360.000 USD remains for any activity to achieve this complex goal (30.000 USD amonth).

Imagine that – you are almost alone on the street, on the green field, with no support andconnections, with 360k USD as the only asset, and you have to make this in a year. Howwould you do it? Where would you go, where would you start? Who would you talk to? Thebudget is firmly limited, and the Army is watching your progress and spending very closely.They won´t help you, no way, forget any assistance – you know the famous CIA´sexpression, ´plausible deniability´, if something goes wrong. And they clearly, openly expectyou to fail. You are completely on your own.

But in the end, you´ll make it – or almost. The plot of the book has a serious twist later, butthat is another tale.

Now, the team must be introduced: the CEO is that above mentioned Army officer, with therank of First Lieutenant, originally from Army PSYOPS unit, but now discharged for thismission. He has an adjutant, famous soldier Svejk´s grandson, always chattering and tellinghis pub tales, who is deliberately inserted there as a ´popular connection between civilian andmilitary world´. And there is a fresh graduate from an University, very shady figure, withsuspicious contacts on the high places – so only she has some access to ´special services´ andoficially unaccessible information and data from the Government, Law Enforcement andprobably even Secret Service databases, used to research for usable ´assets´ (people, suitablefor use). She will be the narrator here – the agency just started a big meeting.

"The highest priority for us now has in fact existential necessity, to obtain a high creative andmanagerial media asset, so we can realize our next objectives. This preliminary ´OperationMONUMENT´ is superior to all others, because only if it succeeds, we can have thenecessary, critically important media support for our next operations.

The target is object X. Y., well-known head reporter and CEO of the key tabloid magazine´Heavy Slander´. Code name ´ZORAN´ allocated. He will get carefully dosed pieces of infoabout our next objects of interest from us, and that will be beneficial for both sides. He willget his themes and gossip the readers ask for, and yet more, he´ll acquire the unique infos, thecompetition won´t ever have – and we get, on the contrary, the most suitable possibility ofpromoting our people.

Moreover, in a case of necessity and emergency, he will provide us with a brake, if any of ournext assets would get out of our control. Through ZORAN and his ruthless tabloid mediastyle we can clearly indicate to them, where their place is, or even eliminate their mediareputation, and fully damage their perception by the public, if necessary. So he is the fuse forthe cases of emergency, and his importance is extremely high."

What two more operations followed? And how the negotiation went in practice? Believe me,this will be big! Continuation in the next part, ´Higher Interest´.

Persuasion Series 2 by Alan Svejk: Higher Interest

In the Part 1, „Operation Monument“, the circumstances of establishing the military unitC102 were explained, the team introduced, and necessity of a media support for someunknown purposes presented. Now, the team goes into action!

Imagine, that you have to persuade somebody, who is in really high position. Not just talk tohim or her and try it only, for a good feeling, that you tried. You need to persuade him or herright now, on the spot, and the person must change his or her stance immediately. You needto win, not to participate only. No Olympics rules are applied here.

With luck, you get close enough to a CEO of a big corporation and you´ll meet him/her inperson, s/he´ll listen to you with attention, s/he´ll agree with anything you´ll say, s/he´ll smileat you, s/he´ll promise to do everything possible in his/her power… but nothing changes inthe end. This is just a PR game, you leave the building satisfied, but you achieved in factnothing, besides your good feeling and optimism.

Such outcome is not enough for Denisa. For her most important missions, she needs resultsimmediately, not just such false promises. So learn about her different approach, to completethose difficult challenges.

Not much is known about her. Allegedly, her sister serves in the Army as the crew of thathighly classified hi-tech anti-aircraft laser weapon system ´Avenger´, and she inspired Denisato join the Army career somehow, by bringing opportunity to study the women influence inthe Military Affairs.

Whoever tries to get some detail info on Denisa, realizes soon, that her life is hidden in theshadows, and she is well cared from the highest places. There are rumors, that she is thepampered princess and upcoming ace of the Military Counterintelligence, with the purpose ofintroducing new, elite generation of military females, which are fully capable of occupyingthe highest positions in the state security and military structures, including high-profilesecurity operations.

Her style for arrangements is pretty simple. She approaches you very modestly, but longeryou let her talk, she reveals the true nature of her mission – and believe me, you realize veryfast, that she is not the person to play with, to mess with, and to oppose at all.

For example, X. Y., CEO and head reporter of that famous tabloid magazine "HeavySlander", is well-known as the man who knows it all, who fears nobody and nothing, who can´t be lured or cheaply bought. His work brings him serious threats every day, but he neverdodges. He always makes only his own decisions.

But as the ancient Chinese warfare strategist Sun Tzu said: the battle is decided before theopponents close up.

„You said, Denisa, that it´s all about some fashion model,” X.Y. went right to the business.„So let´s make this short. This is what I can easily arrange, no problem. But you will buy ourmedia advertisement, in the value of five thousand dollars. Of course, I will provide you anattractive discount for the advertisement. And you can collect the girl´s money later, herparents will be glad to pay for the media success of their beloved daughter, or she can get abank loan, if she is earning already. I don´t care.

That five grand is not a big amount today, better holiday somewhere in Costa Rica, nothingtoo exclusive. And it pays off! Who is at least once in life in the glare of stage lights, he orshe is always the person people know, recognize, respect. Believe me, to experience thisfeeling just once, you´ll realize, that for five grand, it is almost for free. Received value isimpossible to calculate.”

Denisa had no expression on her face. „I would rather give that five grand to you directly,mister head reporter, so your publisher won´t interfere into our business relationships. It isalways the best to make a deal only with two persons. And we need not only your articles andplace in your magazine, we need also your consultancy, participation, so you take our matterfor your own, not only as a craft, and make the best of yourself. Thus, there is a question, if Iwould give another five to your magazine, oficially, if you wouldn´t be in a collision ofinterests.”

X.Y. was silent. He was not surprised. They tried this on him many times before.

„I can´t do this, sorry. This is not the right way, how the things should be done in thisbusiness, to keep decency. You know, I don´t have too much of honor in myself, and peopleknow this well about me, but this is far beyond the border. Of course, if the magazine wouldbe mine, I´d take your money and I´d be a friend instantly, as if the model would be my ownsister. But today, in this conditions, I have to be a friend with my boss at first. No lousy fivegrand is enough to damage this relationship, you certainly understand.”

„That is natural,” Denisa acknowledged. „Then it would be best, perhaps, to give somethingdirectly to your good friend publisher, to help us to persuade you. To explain to him openly,that you are an asset, critical for the most important matters of higher interest,” she lookedfirmly at X.Y., who was a little bit freezed.

„Your publisher recently pursued certain state contract, in the value of one million dollars,”Denisa continued calmly, „and he can get it. But someting for something: he´ll give us YOU.And I mean completely, until that degree, that you´ll receive our instructions and fulfill themwithout hesitation.

Another option is, to keep your publisher out of this, and all another people around as well,not to involve them into our little business. And solve this only between us. Five to you, andyour help in our cause for it. No one else is needed. I would prefer this method.”

„I see that you really care of this matter,” X.Y. tried to get some time, and he was thinking.

„Yes. This cause is very important, and your help as well. We want only the best man inmedia business, and we will acquire him,” Denisa explained.

„Madam, maybe you are used to get everything you want, everything you point at, with apacket of money in your cultivated hand. It´s attractive, really! Girls like this really exciteme, I don´t deny this fact. But you know, I have this horrible feature: I never let anyone toforce me to do anything. I get stuck, and nobody changes my opinion. I would say, that thisunpleasant event happened right now.”

Denisa said nothing, and left to the bar with X.Y.´s young female companion, to get a drink.X.Y. and Josef Svejk were left alone, drinking the beer.

„Your boss is quite… persuasive,” X.Y. tried it.

„She represents the higher interests,” Svejk replied with detachment. „And everybody mustget of their way, no matter, how high in position. So don´t take this personally. If we need younow for the beneficial matters to the community, it has no sense to dodge. We are notenemies. But we can be, and you don´t want to experience that. She tries it the good way witheverybody at first, she is quite a good soul, but if necessary, she doesn´t hesitate to applyvarious malicious twists.

Look, you´ll get good money and exclusive media materials, and your readers will be crazyreading them. You´ll give them, what they want… that is your personal motto, isn´t it? Thecompetition will be lost and your friend publisher will be yet much bigger friend, countingthe profit. We only need you to see the reasons of this, why we do it. Neither she, nor I havepersonal interest in this; we are just foot soldiers. But you are now one too. They watch usfrom above very closely now. If you dodge now, you go against them. And they know well,how to persuade anybody, to change his unacceptable, wrong opinion.

Just try to look positively at that! Not, that somebody forces you, pushes you, and you don´tlike that, because you are proud, independent, and you have some higher position. But thereare forces out there, and before them is better and right to submit, bend your head. Becausethey will reward you generously for your help. And if this will be otherwise, they´ll cleanyour head, and not gently. I don´t know, if this is fair, moral, right, but as I could understandin this special job, when the higher interests are in stake, things are taken care of very straightway.

You are simply the chosen. And they won´t let you go away now.”

„So you are in fact foot soldiers for a dirty work,” X.Y. said openly, and maybe he evenplanned, what a great article this will be, that alleged state power tried to push him to thewall, limit the independence of the press.

„But we all are,” Svejk replied immediately. „You also lie to the people, daily, and you writeit publicly, you sign under that dirty stuff. And you are not ashamed of that! But thedifference between us is substantial: our power is real. Yours is only symbolic, that you arethat alleged seventh power. You can feel strong and powerful. But those people, they haveconnections. They got their blessing from above, if it´s necessary. Not oficially, of course.

But they have access to the key sources, even information not so quite public. So if you havesome dirty laundry at home, believe me, they´ll find it, because they´ll search your wardrobethrough, and then they´ll push you to the wall. You can fight, cry that you´ll write about this,complain, that you won´t let them do this! But they don´t care. It goes out of them. They haveno emotions. They know no fear, bad feelings, remorses. And you only worsen your situation.

We won´t force you. But as I know her, right tomorrow morning you´ll have ´by chance´something nice waiting in your mailbox, concept of the article, which will be published in arival magazine, and you won´t like that really, because the subject will be yourself personally,what bad, very bad things you maybe ever made, and you wanted it to keep secret. She is amachine, she measures fairly to everybody.

Hey, I am just a low servant there. But I have seen things, so I am telling you, even if I amnobody in comparison with you: sooner you accept this, better for you.”

X.Y. started to admit, that he could withdraw from his moral values for once.

Why all this commotion? Why is this tabloid media support needed? And what did they sayabout a fashion model? This makes no sense. Or does it? Read in the next instalment:„Operation Laterna“.

Persuasion Series 3 by Alan Svejk: Operation LATERNA

Previously, in Part Two, the team of Special Military Unit C102: PSYOPS was able to get anultimate asset for necessary media cover of their next operations. But now, let´s move back intime, when Denisa continued with her presentation – and you´ll see from the first sentencealready, that this woman is fully qualified for the job: to gain unprecedented social andpolitical power for the Military assignments.

But remember, this is only a book, work of art and fiction.

„Following ´Operation LATERNA´ will secure for us directly controlled political assets intoupcoming years. These assets will be installed on the local, municipal level at first, after nextGeneral Election higher, into the Parliament, and later, ideally yet higher. Three primaryobjects were chosen from the preliminary list: 7, 24 and 31.

The objects were selected to not only cover different areas of the country, but especially toprovide highest chance for success by their diversity, so once, at least one of them gets to theplace we need him to be, and if our wildest dreams will be fulfilled, he will become theMinister of Defence, fully inclined towards higher interests, that we are representing.Generally, the objects are people with unfulfilled ambitions, and we´ll make this favorabletrade with them: we´ll give them the opportunity to begin again, better, elsewhere and tobecome ´somebody´, because that is what they desire most, but it will ask from them toexactly follow our instructions.

They will be pledged to us for the whole time of their new career. We´ll grow and cultivatethem, we´ll create them, and if they´ll ever turn from us, or even against us, we willimmediately take back all the gifts they received from us. They´ll be warned permanently,that any violation will have most severe consequences, simply returning them to the loweredsocial position, where they are now. We don´t give gifts to anybody! We only lend them thenecessary tools to achieve our goals.

Object 7 is a former musical singer of medium media influence, age 37, now professionallyalmost inactive and without media cover. Although she has the husband, who is quite asuccessful entrepreneur, she feels hungry for appreciation and public recognition, maybe evenunease. Ideal status for acceptance of the political activation vision. Region Centre. Allocatedcode name: ´RADEK´.

Object 24 is a former well-known fashion model, but now too old for this branch. Age 34,extremely hungry for media attention, she has many high-profile media contacts, effectivebartering ability. High ability of persuasive talking, and even manipulation with people.Worsened financial and social situation, although she declares before friends, media andpublic, how great she is standing. We´ll use this. Region East. Code name ´KAMIL´.

Object 24 is a former well-known TV presenter of high media influence, who left the scenefor maternity leave, but now she sees, that to return back is difficult, but she desperatelyneeds media recognition again. Age 39. We´ll offer her an alternative life route. Region West.Code name ´PATRIK´.

I want to remark, that according to our internal analysis, the highest probability of successhas object 24, KAMIL, who can be easily controlled through his dependence on our financialsupport. And most importantly, KAMIL can effectively help us with our most criticalmission, Operation ENTITA.”

It was completely obvious, which object Denisa prefers herself. Although they selected thepotential candidates together with her superior First Lieutenant and his adjutant Josef Svejk,Denisa clearly declared countlessly confirmed rule, that people in bad financial situation arenot only the easiest available, but also the most loyal, most active collaborators, andsubordinates. But the question remained, what to do, when the chosen object refuses theiroffer? Wouldn´t it jeopardize their interests, if they count on him so much?

„He can refuse, but it means only, that we described him the advantages inadequately, andforgot to mention, that he actually doesn´t have any other suitable options, where to continuewith his career and life, if anything of that should make sense. We will simply persuade himfor so long, until he understands. There is no rush! His possible primary lack of interest willbe only our mistake, and indication, that we selected wrong methods of persuasion,” Denisadeclared her opinion clearly.

The tone she said it with, admitted no doubt, that KAMIL will become their key asseteventually.

Persuasion Series 4 by Alan Svejk: The Mask

In the previous instalment of my Persuasion Series, Part Three: Operation LATERNA, thespecial military unit C102: PSYOPS revealed their high-profile, most courageous plan: to getan ultimate political asset, favorable to higher state interests. Object 7, „KAMIL“, waschosen as the favorite candidate, and this is his tale.

This continuation is quite different. Surprisingly, the most part is about KAMIL´sbackground, but only then you can fully understand, how any precise PSYOP must bemanufactured. It seems to the reader, that KAMIL shows here his own thoughts and feelings,but you can imagine as well, that all this information is precisely analyzed, to decide hissuitability for this complex mission. Only here, the information is presented as literature, butsomewhere else, as some Big Data.

And as always, I must remind, that it´s creative art only, work of fiction. So don´t search forKAMIL in CZ media space – this person never existed. I made it up, for the artistic purposesof my book, "Svejk 2: The Army Elite". But maybe you will learn something about thatmysterious world of celebrities, media and manipulation… in fact, another PSYOPS world!

Those were not a good times for A.B. Her high celebrity social status, which she wascarefully building for the whole previous years, started to disappear definitively.

She made the elemental, life mistake by procuring a housing far beyond her financialabilities. The mortgage for luxurious flat in the price of 900.000 USD wasn´t something easyto live with! She regretted, that she let herself to be persuaded to this move by a friend, in factan old lover. He owned a construction company, and maybe he considered desirable, to havea celebrity in his new residential house, so he could effectively advertise his exclusiveproject.

Thus, he was able to persuade her with vast discount from the common price. And shesuccumbed the feeling, that this must be the dreamy housing, that any successful personshould own, to do some right big decision that scares the weak ones. Moreover, everybodyenvied her, how rich she definitely is, that she can afford something amazing like this! For themedia and for the social respect and attention it suited her, it paid off fully, but in anothermatters it pushed her to the wall, and consequences of this unwise move started to fully occurright now.

Of course, from the beginning, there were problems with the bank, who had to provide a loan.First time, they denied her request, although with courtesy and many apologies, so A.B. hadto accept several questionable work contracts, to fulfill the high demands of the financialinstitution. Eventually, she managed to prove her income high enough for the consecutivethree months, and with efficient help of the bank subsidiary´s director, who was her ex-lovertoo, they finally approved it.

But she realized soon, that to acquire 3.000 USD every month just for the mortgage paymentwas above her possibilities. Although she had the beatiful housing, she was scared everymonth, if she will be able to gather enough money for the payment and living, and if thissweet tale of success, made up with the help of media, will last further, or it will end veryinfamously.

She tried just everything to get highest possible income, both financially, and indirectly,through the magic of barter. She become the front face of a smaller cosmetics brand, almostevery week she was in Prague, trying to get contracts, she tried to make yet more friends andbusiness contacts, who could get her a job or another advantages. She simply extended hersocial networks into the most possible width.

Even so, she saw clearly, how her possibilites are disappearing. She was undisputedly too oldfor a fashion model, and masking all of those growing physical imperfections became hard, ifnot impossible. Let alone if she would stand beside hungry young colleagues with perfectyoung skin, even without excessive make-up… after all, they were fifteen years younger thanshe was. She would like to find a good job in the ´backstage´ of that attractive fashion branch,but this option was not possible for her: she had no qualification, or creative talent. All shewas able to do was to smile and wave with her hips. That used to be enough for a success, butthose great times were ending relentlessly, and A.B. had no idea, what to do next.

X.Y., head reporter and CEO of that famous tabloid magazine „Heavy Slander”, was one ofthe key persons, she identified as assets, able to keep her on top, that could bring her moreinteresting contracts and the circle of opportunities would be closed desirable way. She triedjust everything on him, promising the ´physical relaxation´ at first, of course, because thatwouldn´t cost her anything… but he didn´t accept, he was just smiling, that he has so manygreedy girls like her in his office every day, who would strip before him and would make justanything to satisfy his needs, that if he should make PRs and promotion to all of them, forthis ridiculously low price, he has nothing else in his famous, prestigious and respectedmagazine.

It was bad, because X.Y. was placed so high already, that he didn´t care about any barter. Hedidn´t need anything from the others! Only cash would help, X.Y. never rejected the scent ofmoney, but A.B. couldn´t afford this, because every possible money were sucked out of herbank account by that damned housing.

Now, the question was: what to do with all that problems? The best economical choice wouldbe to cancel the mortgage, to sell the flat, but it would bring most serious consequences:firstly, she would be in the horrible debt to the bank, 150.000 USD, and without any securing,because she had no another property, and this invoice would be to pay immediately. Nottalking about the fact that another 150.000, which she had to pay as the initial depositpayment, would be forever lost, and that were her lifetime savings! She would get completelyempty-pocketed, without single dollar, in the age of 34, and on the street, without own placeto live! Moreover, luxurious housing like this would be hard to sell in her home city, Brno,and any potential buyer would just ask for another big discount. Also the realty tradingcompany would gain some more from her!

But there was an undisputable risc, that the flat will be sold involuntarily, against her will, insome humiliating public auction, where the lost property usually ends, and the media wouldbe completely ecstatic with this attractive development, including X.Y., his person in the firstplace! He never saved anybody, and if somebody was down and didn´t pay him some„motivation fee for looking elsewhere”, he never hesitated to hit hard in his articles. If someaffected person came to X.Y. and complained, that just yesterday they were friends yet, hejust replied, that his readers wanted to read about that, and he couldn´t refuse them, becausethe competition would write about it otherwise and they would steal his publicity! He fearednothing and nobody, and he couldn´t be stopped by anything. Threats or sweet promises,nothing worked. He simply loved what he did.

There was no need to think, how devastating influence would this unlucky tale had on hercarefully built media picture. She would be finished forever, simple as that! The peoplewould always considered her as a loser, even it was still an advertisement and publicity, butthe bank wouldn´t absolutely care for any media games! They would want their money backimmediately, ruthlessly!

She simply made a big mistake, and now she had no idea, how to get out of that trap. Shecouldn´t tell to anybody, her alleged good friends could easily become the maliciousinformers of tabloid media, which were always sniffing around for sensations. In her society,everybody smiled to another people, but malice and envy were common too, althoughtactically withheld.

She simply remained all alone in this trouble. Although she had a boyfriend, who profiledhimself in media as a rich man and famous entrepreneur, as she instructed him for confirmingof her success tale, the reality was much modest. Besides, she borrowed 25.000 USD fromhim, when she was short with that initial mortgage payment, and it meant, that he kept her inthe corner, because if she would split with him, he would ask for the money immediately, andin cash. He forced her to sign a precise loan contract, although she tried to persuade him tomake the business „just on a good word“, but he had very bad experience with his previousmarriage already, his ex-wife completely dried him, so he insisted.

In any case, she couldn´t ask for another support from him. In addition, if he would find, thatA.B. has the financial problems, he would definitely started to push her to return his moneyback, so he could overtake the bank, as the creditor number zero, who can fully satisfy hisdemands!

They would simply strike on her, all of them, together, at once, as vultures! They would tearher to pieces, no mercy, no compassion and understanding, no pardoned interests!

It was simply bad. A.B. had problems with sleep for a long time already, and she had noappetite for food. She knew, that those problems will damage her appearance further, and shewill lose any contracts yet faster. So, what to do? What next?

And then a friend called, that there could be a well paid job for A.B. Of course, that A.B. toldher, that she has a great job and plenty of money, so she doesn´t need anything and thoseridiculously small jobs are under her „A“ celebrity level, but in the end, she allowed ameeting, where a company representative should come.

They agreed to meet with the other woman in the large mall in Modřice, near the D1 freeway.She came there, and as she parked her car, she realized, that her only option is an emigration.Simply leave everything here, it is a riddle with no possible solution, and to disappear! Letsomebody else to solve her problems instead of her! It was luck that she denied her boyfriend´s call for a wedding and starting a family!

It would mean another attractive advantage: that she wouldn´t have to repay that 25 grand tohim, her „beloved“ boyfriend…

It was tempting, even sweet imagination. But the globe-trotter A.B. was in the world already,she saw it many times and closely, so she knew well, that to start a new existence out there,without any proper capital to begin with, is very hard. And another thing, nobody wouldpublicly recognize her, so she could forget any further media career. Maybe to find and marrya really rich man, no media fake? But A.B. wasn´t like this…

There must exist a solution, she thought. Maybe just to hold and wait, until the fate will showher a more favorable face?

Denisa introduced herself to A.B. just shortly, and they shook hands. Denisa smiled nicely.

No big impression she made on A.B., but the fashion model smiled too, because she had thelong practice of pretending warm feelings even to people completely indifferent to her. „Niceto meet you, Denisa! You know, I usually don´t accept contracts of this type, but a goodfriend begged me, so I am here mostly because of her insisting. She wants me to help you,because people know me well,” A.B. lied as an experienced professional.

„Of course, Miss B. Forgive me to bother you with a small matter like this. I fullyunderstand, that it can´t be too interesting for you. But we can talk about it anyway, do youagree?”

They sat in the comfortable sofas in the local café. There was lovely designed interior, the sunshined through the large windows, and A.B. started to feel better.

„So, what exactly would you need,” A.B. pretended falsely, that her time is expensive.

„Here is the advance payment,” Denisa showed her an impressive packet of money in herhandbag, inserted freely, between some documents. „Do you think, that you could give mesome of your precious time? The matter is a little bit complex.”

A.B. had the immediate feeling, that Christmas came very early this year! The ones who paidin cash are very favorite everywhere! But she expressed nothing. She estimated, that in thepacket was about 2500 USD. It meant almost a month of calm life without stress! Finally!

„Of course, I am only yours, just tell me. And you know what? Call me A. You are Denisa,aren´t you?”

In a minute, they were the best friends.

„Our corporation is very generous,” Denisa returned to reason why they met here. „Andbecause we are very interested in a cooperation with you on our special projects, if you willlisten to everything I would like to tell you, and if you will answer my questions truthfully,the content of the packet you just saw is yours. I mean, right here, on the spot. Two grand fivehundred, and I need no receipt. If you wouldn´t be insulted by that, A.”

„Well, the money can´t insult anybody today, and in cash most definitely not,” A. couldn´tresist to smile. „But anybody could realize, that amount as high as this is a little bit too bigfor a chat. This must be something… unusual.”

„You are right. We conduct very special, unusual and unseen projects. But what is important,that they can bring a large fame to you, and social popularity in such span, you could neverdream of. They will start your media career again, in large, and allow you, to become a realhonorable person. Not only shiny, fake celebrity from the tabloid media, with limited andending durability, but actually respected public figure!

Besides that, we are ready to support you with the same amount every month, to cover anypersonal expenses. That is what we offer. I would say, it sounds good, do you agree?”

„Maybe. It depends, what do you ask for it?”

„What you will have to do, is not so difficult, although I can imagine, that you will react withsomething like, that it is nothing for you. But we know, that you are very suitable. We chosevery carefully, believe me!

But there is one thing I should tell you about our corporation in advance. You know, it is verycommon for us to gather complex information. To know much. We can find many pieces ofdata. So we know, that our generous offer is the only one, able to rescue you from the currentserious problems you have, and which lead you to the blind alley. For example, your hugemortgage, falling income and high debt to your boyfriend.

Therefore, you shouldn´t think, that we will beg you on our knees. That you will raise theprice by your denial. No, nobody will beg you, A. We will just wait, until your life falls apart,and that will happen soon, you know that, we know that. Then, you will approach us, and inthat time soon, you will beg us. You will lose your mask of life success and stability, whichis, as you and I both know well, definitely false. It is, isn´t it?“

A. said rather nothing. Life learned her, that sometimes it is the best to remain silent.

„I just want to ask you, to be sincere, because money is on the table. Is it possible to buy yoursincerity? Yes?”

„You must be wrong with me. I…”

„I asked you to listen to everything I will say, and also to answer my questions truthfully.Those are two conditions I declared to pay your wage. So tell me, what is your currentsituation?”

„Well, if you know everything anyway… I am not standing too good, that is right. And aboutthat sincerity, yes, you can buy it from me. I just don´t give myself too cheaply. I have noeducation, but life learned me something.”

„We know, why we chose you. Just be open and cooperate. So, now you will listen verycarefully, OK?

We need you to enter into the politics. Yes! You hear well! To activate politically, at first onthe municipal level, in your place of residence, Brno-Kohoutovice, later yet higher. We willprovide you with maximum support, ideological and media, and you will get additionalmoney from us, so no further problems with the mortgage. But you have to execute the task,to go there. But no need to have any fear, it is very similar to the world of celebrities, trustme. It is almost the same game, and we will explain her rules to you carefully.

The first rule is, that you will never try to play dirty on us. Forget the temping thought thatwe will pull you up, and you will fly away without gratitude. No! You will be in our services,until we say, that your mission is over and you are free to go. If you try to sabotage it, ourreaction will be fast, swift and ruthless: all of your nightmares will become the realityinstantly, and nobody will offer you any modeling job here anymore. Who would select you,if there is so many younger competitors, and we will be glad to recommend them, instead ofyou?

So you will fulfill our instructions to the last dot, and you will take our goals as yours own.But the finish of this matter lies very high, so this will be a long trail, you should count withthat. Generally, you will make the political career with our help, and once, if it will work, youdefinitely can make some small favors for your old good friends, if they need anything…

We will simply push you up. When you will get there, to that certain social and public top,you will help us, in the assignments of higher interests. Simple barter. Is that clear?”

„But I can´t do something like this,” A. said realistically. „Yes, the truth is, that in mydesperate situation, I should take just anything, but every person has some limits and I am notable to do this. OK, you rule me now, you can buy me cheaply and I will do almosteverything for you, what I can. But right this task? This is absolutely out of my possibilities.”

Relax and just show there, like on the fashionshow, smile and repeat some simple phrases! What is so hard about that? We will prepare theroute for you, and you will only go on it, without stepping away. As I said, do the same youalways did, just add some talk to that. Nothing more.

We will instruct you, where to go, what to say. You will only go there and do it. Didn´t youever dream of an acting career? Now you have the opportunity.”

„Fine. I understand. Is that all what you want from me?”

„No, there is one more thing. We need to get a young fashion model, age 20-23. Somebodywilling to do absolutely anything necessary for the star career, but trustworthy. We willguarantee her this big fashion branch career, but she will have to make something veryspecial for us.

Would you know about somebody suitable? This will be a very long term contract, and it willrun for another years, maybe for her whole life. And that whole time she will go only there,where we will need her to go.”

„And what do you ask from her?” A. was frightened.

Denisa moved closer to her and whispered something.

In A.´s eyes was a complete shock. „You can´t be serious…!”

„I mean it absolutely seriously. She will give us her complete life, and we will fulfill herdreams in exchange. Clear deal.”

„What is the name of your company again? Who are you really?” A. hardly breathed. Shewas completely fussed.

„You can call us a guardian angels and your last chance.”

Persuasion Series 5 by Alan Svejk: „Unvoted“

In the previous part of my Persuasion Series, „The Mask“, a tale of a retired fashion modelwas presented, because the Special Military Unit C102: PSYOPS decided to use her as anpolitical asset of extreme importance. Now, have a look how things went in practice, and howuseful for higher interests she was eventually…

And as always, this is just a book, work of art and fiction. But you can see, how the politicsworks, and how high can be a power of media. Naturally, only if you have some aces in yourhands…

The doubts A.B. maybe had on the first day, disappeared very soon. She didn´t remember,that the phone would ring so often for the last years. And all of these hungry journalistswanted and asked for an interview. From their insisting, it was obvious, that A.B. is in themiddle of action. She controlled the media.

And yet, so little was enough to start all this commotion. In X.Y.´s famous tabloid magazine„Heavy Slander”, an article appeared, there was written something like this:

Well-known fashion model and socialite A.B. from Brno decided, to enter the politicalbattlefield and to hit hard the municipal struggle for power in Brno-Kohoutovice, whichstarted in advance, long before Municipal election this year. All participated political parties,understanding her influence, are trying to persuade her, to become right their component, andto help them to victory in election, by her public recognition and fame.

„I never thought about making this step in my life, but the citizens of city quarter, where Ilive, asked me widely for a long time, to help them to enforce their justified interests, becausetheir voices are not heard by the present Town hall.

My interest is not supporting any current political party. I stay neutral. But I will makemaximum effort to reform the local conditions. Another continuation of the present grimsituation is out of question. The citizens ask for substantial changes in the Social Affairspolicy, administration of public property, and public security in the streets. I will interpretthese demands very forcibly on the proper political places, and if there will be no remediessoon, mandate of the current municipal establishment definitively ends after this year´selection.”

Unseen, unheard ruthlessness of this strong proclamation was enough to start moving allthings around. The people asked for explanations, reasons, answers. She could serve themeasily. Denisa was right, it was not so hard. And by repetition she was making her answersyet better and more persuasive, so in a short time, they sounded very real, very honorably.

She was instructed to stay with media expressions yet, and not to make any negotiations withpolitical subjects and persons. To wait, who will approach her, and will ask for her support.

It didn´t take long, and they started to sound her out, searching for clues. They requestednoncommittal meetings in the best restaurants of Brno. To talk, to socialize, nothing big,nothing binding.

She waited for an instruction from above, which came after precise analysis of the situation,regarding political conditions on the Town hall, and the potential of the hungry opposition.Then A.B. got the green light.

The meeting took place in a famous bar for the celebrities, no hiding, nothing discreet at all.She was instructed for this step too: to make the opposite side to approach her publicly, andthe public could explain this event very clearly, that they desperately need her, that she is theperson of key value, high significance. Who showed in this joint, couldn´t be overlooked, andthat is why everybody had to see them with her, the whole Brno, and it meant a clearindication, who can possibly have her support, or at least some chance for it.

Naturally, A.B. didn´t come to the meeting alone, but escorted by three men, and their well-built bodies and strict looks indicated, that it had no sense or hope for success, to try to scareher, stop her on the growth to public power.

Meanwhile, in the Town hall, there was a complete mess and fear, as if the election was lostalready, in advance. Gossips and talks, spreading through Kohoutovice, were reallyfrightening for the current political representation: allegedly, behind A.B. should be standinga prominent, secret sponsor, who decided to invest into the local election unbelievableamount of 2.000.000 USD, and that was shocking high amount, nobody could believe it. Butlater, when a local rich man stepped in front, and admitted, that yes, that he would like tosupport the political activities of A.B., because he trusts her completely, everybodyunderstood, that the times and local situation is changing forever.

What else could make the Town hall, than a counter-move? To try some tactics, to save allthis dangerous, risky situation, even for a high price, and the way was only one: although theelection didn´t go off yet, unvoted A.B. got a responsible, honorable and high position in avery important town hall branch, the administration of the public property, in the value ofhundred of millions USD.

She accepted, she wouldn´t accept anything smaller anyway, because now, she had influence.It went all so fast! But it was just a beginning of the new tale. Because everybody knew, thatshe won´t stop. That she will go up permanently, to the Parliament mandate, and it is necesaryto be friendly with her, to keep a good relationship with her, to provide her with support,because that is a reasonable investment, able to return back favorably one day. Her influencein Brno was rising every day, and in the Parliament, somebody should start cleaning herfuture seat.

For Special Military Unit C102, A.B. turned out as yet more valuable asset, than expected.She used her new high social position, and came with a suggestion, to use some C.D., 21years old, for the Operation ENTITA, fulfilling their demands without exception. And not

only that, when they explained to C.D., what is asked from her, A.B. explained all of thatherself, under Denisa´s supervision. C.D., same as A.B. believed, that all of this has somehigher purpose. That she doesn´t make all this just for herself, but she can help to somethinghigher, be a honorable person.

The new female elite was growing, able to reach the most courageous goals, and to be usefulto the matters of higher interests.

Persuasion Series 6 by Alan Svejk: Operation ENTITA

In the previous part of my Persuasion Series, „Unvoted“, the new female asset of the SpecialMilitary Unit C102: PSYOPS fully demonstrated her abilities, to execute the mostchallenging tasks in politics. But one last operation, the most crucial, is to be revealed. Backin the time, Denisa is coming to the jewel of their activities, and one thing is the most certain:success or failure will be decided right here, right now.

It was a team work, but it is always most rewarding, to feel, that you are changing history,that you are an insider of the most substantial social changes. That you not only accept thempassively, but you create them. And all assets, when they will realize this, will accept thetasks as their own, for sure.

„And now, the most critical agency project is coming up, so please, listen very carefully,”Denisa switched to another point of presentation. Her voice became the most urgent,indicating, that this mission will draw a straight line between success and failure of theiroverall activities.

„As an introduction, let me tell you all, that I am so extremely proud, that it was us, whoinvented this project, here, in our corporation, in our country. Believe me please, thatalthough I carefully searched through all possible sources and documents, including non-public and foreign of course, I didn´t found any indication, that something similar would berealized in the history of Military PR, and I mean worldwide! Even the Americans will cometo learn from us!

We are the first, there is nothing to add. Regardless, if Operation ENTITA will succeed, ornot, her basic thoughts will most definitely enter into textbooks forever. And it began righthere, today, where all of us are just sitting!

But now, to the point.

Operation ENTITA can bring us very fast and high-quality, maybe even ultimate public,social and media asset, fully beneficial for the purposes of popularization of the militarypower.

We will create a big tale from the beginning, and it will pull our asset up to the star medialevels and fulfills her dreams, and also, it will show to the people, on this illustrativeexample, how optimal life route is the activation of any individual in the Army, how manynew life opportunities and honorable place in the society this can bring to them, plus, howimportant and positive is the institution of the Army at all.

Much more publicly surprising will be this important life step in the case of our asset, whichwill be a person from fashion branch. Exactly, a young female fashion model, age 20-23,explicitly on the beginning of her life journey, and she selects as the next move, to thedeepest surprise of all, the Army!

The public, readers, listeners, viewers, voters, citizens, politicians and potential recruits, bothmale and female, will watch her journey very closely, and to achieve that, ZORAN will helpus with his tremendous media power, to ignite large fireworks. Our asset will explain to all ofthem, by his own words, why she made this life change, that she takes it as the ultimatelyright thing, and explains to them gently, what is the importance of the Army either in themodern state, or for them personally, in clearly individual level.

Most certainly, she will help to soften any negative thoughts of the public, standing quiteagainst the Army today, but also, she will persuade many of them, to follow her lead, or atleast to retreat from their actual anti-military stances. Thus, our asset will become the ace ofany Army PR activities, past, present and future, and she will be always under our fullcontrol. She must be the person, who knows the rules of media games well, so we don´texpect any significant decline from our instructions.

In practice, here is what will happen. We will find an active, quite attractive fashion model. Itmakes no difference for us, if active in the media, publicly recognized, or peripheral,unknown. Through ZORAN´s help, we will prepare the right media conditions for her totalactivation: it means, she will be reminded to the people, or she will be widely introduced tothe public, so they will acquaint her in deep detail, and they will be forced to accept her as thefirm part of the present media world.

This will be achieved through some ingenious gossip. For example, that she is dating afamous TV presenter, that socialite and macho, or some ´A´ grade actor, and they are secretlymeeting in the luxurious hotels, so no one can see them, because he is married and he doesn´twant to jeopardize his social position, or his happy family. He will deny this gossip, she willdeny it, but a paparazzo makes a picture of them, through the window, in the dark and out offocus, on the secret date, they are behaving suspiciously, too close to each other, simply aclassic media manipulation, to awake an interest in the public, to force them to watch thedevelopment further.

Then, the actual operation will begin: by widely publishing shocking media information,written in big bold letters, allegedly leaked from the asset´s closest environment, that theasset allegedly decided to join the Army for one year, voluntarily! The reason can be, forexample, that the media covered her relationship heavily, and it pushed her into the corner,she doesn´t know, how to proceed further, and she is searching for a fundamental life change,to get away from that complicated feelings, to make herself free again. The media and thesociety will be full of waves and attention, people will be surprised, much gossip will arise,but the interest of public will continue, as various girls and influential women will publishtheir opinions on the cause in the social media.

Asset will confirm this gossip, but not somehow excited, maybe even with unease, after all,she doesn´t know, what is expecting her out there. But in the end, she really starts with basicmilitary training! Then, we will bring a new tale of the asset, experienced in that new,unusual, military environment. Maybe some new relationship, showing the audience, thateven in the Army you can realize your emotional needs, and young people have many ofthem.

Visually and illustratively, with the help of precise, but apparently amateur photographicdocumentation, we will show the asset in her new world, as she is already fully orientatedthere. On this picture, she is between other female colleagues, all girls are shining, they are agood team on the first sight, they are smiling, they are satisfied, they live an interesting life,they like, what they do. In addition, photos like: here, the smiling asset is changing themagazine of assault rifle, and she allows the viewer to see the live ammunition loaded inside,so it is confirmed, that she really doesn´t play with a training ammo only!

Or here, a group photo, full of smiles, now with male colleagues too; elsewhere, asset isjumping from the roof of armored transport vehicle, with weapon in hand and anti-tankrocket launcher on the back; and here, she looks so courageous, with the face covered withmasking colors, she shows something on the map to another soldiers of the unit, and they arewatching her closely, so she demonstrates, that she is like a woman in the modern Army fullyrespected, and she can be even indisputably sexy, and this will affect the perception of theArmy not only by young boys and men, but young girls also. They will remember thesepictures well, and later, when they will incline to search themselves and her in their lives, thiswill substantially ease them the way to the Army recruitment centre.

Eventually, our asset receives some promotion and medal, and she will lead her own combatunit on the large collective training excercise with another NATO armies. There, she willfully confirm her qualification for the military tasks, and other colleagues will appreciate her,not only her superiors, but another members of the unit, men and women.

There could also happen some extraordinary humanitarian event, and the asset will personallysave somebody in the last moment, like: somebody is drowning, some careless kid fell intothe deep river, and the asset saves his life; or, some serious road accident, scary scene towatch, blood and injured, crying people everywhere, but the asset will not lose hercomposure and helps them; or, a grandma´s house was robbed and her precious memorialobjects were stolen, with immense personal value, but that precious things will return to her,because our asset will heroically catch the thief, some rough prisoner on the run, armed anddangerous!

Thus, we will show the public in the full width, what is the life in the Army, what good andpositive consequences it means for an individual, and that military tasks are not only combat,but also praiseworthy for the whole society, and this affects not only voters, but also thepersons on the key positions in the society. The goal is, to achieve the approval of the needed3% of the state budget for the military affairs, so our Army can fully realize its mission andmeet the demands from NATO membership.

Last photo of the asset will be taken slightly from below, as she is looking somewhere far,behind the horizon, in the nice ceremony uniform, she salutes, and our state flag is wavingbehind her. This picture will be used in the next years as the perfect, original promotion of theArmy. Not, that the fashion model is posing for the Army, for money – our model is theArmy! There can be nothing more persuasive, for the purposes of recruitment advertisement,and moreover, fully compliant with modern trends, like emancipation of women. But we aresimply the first here, who will take this long step!

After one year, the asset will leave the Army, according to her personal career plan exactly, topursue the study on a top university. We need her back in the media and social world in thattime, so whenever she is seen, she is always reminding with her mere face, that she was there,and whoever will ask her, she responds and repeats, that it was a great, most valuable lifeexperience. Naturally, we will widely help her to get next great career, as the top fashionmodel, known worldwide.

The inevitable professional success is awaiting her, she will appear on the fashion shows inMilan, Moscow, Beijing and New York. She will not leave the media pages. The people willconnect the Army with success, youth and beauty, travelling, experience, active life style,plus the social benefits. We want the uniform to be trendy, or even sexy, like a LV fashiondress.

Generally, as they do it in the U.S., the asset will offer a desirable inspiration to the people,that after high school, when often they don´t know what to do with life, they can spend even amere one year in the Army, to become somebody, and later to continue with their another lifegoals, careers. That year can make the difference, but it doesn´t interfere with the career, onthe contrary, as the social prestige of the Army and its members will be rising by ouractivities.

It means, that even in home it will be more easily approvable by the parents, because theywill realize, that one year is not so big study drop out, plus, there will be no direct combatinvolvement, so no possible body harm is in stake. The vision of social gain will persuade theparents, that this is right, desirable way for any young person, including their beloveddescendant. It is even possible, that once, the most persuasive Army recruiters will be theparents alone, because they want only the best for their kids, and they will be glad to directthem the right way!

Later, we will bring another, modified tales with his basic theme, so everybody can chooseregarding the feeling, preferences or life situation, but always, any tale will be presented inthe ingenious form, and it means to process real life chapters of real persons sensitively,innovatively and creatively, only slightly enhanced for a higher media potential.

For example, somebody was on the inclined way of life, some petty crime, damned anddespised by own family, but he joined the Army and changed, now he or she has their respectand love… or he or she leaved that toxic people, and found or started a new, better family. Or,somebody was unemployed for a long time, because of this economic recession, but in theArmy, the social security and life assurance was found, plus desirable guarantee of a stable

career future. Or, somebody had no idea what to do in life, but by occasion, he or she wentaround our Recruitment centre, went inside for some noncommital information, and there wasthis very helpful and friendly Corporal, who advised him or her well, and this changed his orher life, because today, he or she is somebody, beloging somewhere, helping people. Or, thesetwo, big fatal love, they wouldn´t ever meet, if not serving in the Army. The tales like this thepeople love, and they can be even processed as prosaic literature.

But ENTITA will be the first, breakthrough change in a new, more ingenious way of Armymedia communications.

Well, and it is over! Congratulations, if you read the whole series, and thanks for yourattention! I know, it was a little bit lengthy sometimes, but PSYOPS need a careful, detailapproach! And now you understand, how they work! There will be more!

I should add and confirm one last time: yes, this all is my work, I am the person who madeit up. No copy, no spin-off. Everything completely original. It is a work of fiction, but I triedto make it as real as possible, so I had always the real conditions in mind.

This part of my book was the only one, possible to translate into English. The centralcharacter is Josef Svejk, funny and foolish pub guy, always chattering and telling tales, whospeaks very distinctive language, so any translation is impossible, if the effect of his pub talesshould remain.

I really enjoyed writing about him, but later, I found Denisa to be more interesting figure. Nowonder! But I will write more about my book later.

And about my granpa´s heroic tales, of course! All of my works are dedicated to him, becausehe inspired me on my life journey.
