In order to speak or write in a way that will effectively persuade another person, you must effectively address the following points:

1.Speaker2.Occasion3.Audience4.Tactics

Speaker: Who are you to speak to the masses? Are you an expert? Are you Educated? Are you informed?

An effective speaker is familiar with his/her subject matter and presents an air of confidence in discussing it. If you do not carry the appropriate “weight” you will not be taken seriously. You must be a qualified source of information.



Occasion: Is this really the right place and time to be saying these things?

An effective message is one that is sent at the appropriate time. You will reach the most listeners when they are mentally ready to hear you.


Audience: What do you know about the people you are speaking to and how can you use that to your advantage?

An effective speaker is familiar with his audience. He/she understands what is important to them and how to appeal to their immediate interests.


Tactics: You know your stuff, you understand the situation, you are familiar with your audience…now, what are you going to do with that information?

An effective speaker combines all of the information to create a specific plan. Only through planning and rehearsal is a speaker able to achieve the most effective persuasion.
