Workforce Development – SPRING 2018 Program Pharmacy Technician Training Program Our program is designed to make training for a career as a pharmacy technician – accessible and affordable. Our goal is to provide quality instruction and produce a qualified technician to meet the demands of a fast growing occupation by: Providing industry recognized and accredited instruction that prepares students for an entry-level career as a technician. Facilitating an environment in which faculty and student engage in open dialogue to foster student success. Developing partnerships with industry and community leaders, and much more. The program is intended to be completed in 10 to 12 months. It is 634 hours in duration, comprised of 206 hours of classroom, which includes pharmacy dosage calculations, 88 hours of laboratory, and an externship of 340 hours. The program is offered during the evening to allow working students the opportunity to train for a new career. The Requirements: Must be 18 years of age or older by completion of the program Must possess a High School Diploma or a GED Certificate Must possess a Social Security Number Reading Requirement: You must take the MJC Reading Accuplacer test and place at Reading 82 or higher. OR successfully completed Reading 82 or higher with a “C” or higher. OR have an AA degree or higher from a U.S. College. Additional information listed on back. Math Entrance Exam to be offered on Friday, March 9, 2018 and Monday, March 12, 2018 in Sierra

Hall 255. Call the MJC Workforce Development office 209-575-7889 to schedule your appointment

STEP #3 Background Check

Applicants will receive the information needed to complete Step #3 during the interview process

Program Outline

This program is designed to be completed in staged modules. The student must successfully complete each step in sequence before moving to the next module. Unsuccessfully completing any step precludes continuing in the program.

Pharmacy Technician Core Training Program

589 hours, comprised of classroom and 88 hands on laboratory hours, plus 340

externship hours

Incomplete M&M and or failed Qualifying Exam, student does not enter Core program. A solid understanding of math calculations is necessary to be successful in this program. Student directed to meet with MJC counselor for course guidance.
