Calder Cleland (1922-1943) was a radio operator and air gunner in the Royal Canadian AirForce who was killed during air operations over Sicily. Cleland, was a director of the St.Catharines R.C., a member of the Henley Aquatic Association, and owner of the JordanWine Co.. He purchased the Omar Khayyam wine ewer in an antique shop in Englandbefore WWII. When William Cleland presented the trophy to the C.A.A.O. in 1945, itreplaced the Propeller Club Trophy.
