What is it• The art of taking and processing photos.

Black and white photos

• All photography was originally black and white. Even after colour film was available, black-and-white photography continued to be used for decades, due to its lower cost and its "classic" photographic look.

Colour photos• Colour photos were explored in the mid-19th

century• Scottish physicist James Clerk Maxwell was the

first producer of the first colour photograph in 1861
