OMNIplus Summum the new standard in airjet weaving

With OMNIplus Summum, Picanol intro-duces a truly new generation of airjet weaving machines, combining the latest available technology with over 30 years of experience in airjet weaving.

A completely new electronic control platform, integrating state-of-the-art hard- and software, has been combined with a revolutionary new insertion system.

Picanol BlueBox is the new electronic platform for Picanol weaving machines. It features superior microprocessor performance and memory capacity, a design constructed to meet the hardest working conditions, with state-of-the-art components and detection technology, remote check-up possibility, a modular build-up and offering the user many monitoring tools. This new platform is superior to any existing system on the market.

The new insertion system, with fully electronic pressure regulators, a separate and integrated air tank for each weaving channel and a unique triple air tank set-up for the relay nozzles, offers many advantages in terms of user-friendliness and flexibility. The integrated BlueBox concept, which translates all the available data into optimal settings for maximum performance at lowest possible air consumption, allows all this without making compromises when it comes to performance, flexibility and energy.

Combined with the robust machine frame structure for which Picanol is well known, this platform offers you the highest performance in the market. Obviously, all the traditional advantages of a Picanol machine have been maintained and brought to even higher perfection: modularity, flexibility, versatility and efficiency.

OMNIplus Summum offers you the best guarantee to get the most out of your market, material, time, energy and talent. Not only today, but also in the future, it makes you ‘fit to win’.

Separate air tank per weavinG channel Separate air tank for each weaving channel (main nozzles integrated in the machine side frame). Enables optimal setting through an electronic pressure regulator for each individual weaving channel.

SUMO Main MOtOr Assures the fastest machine start-up, with start-up behavior remaining stable in time. Makes the system superior to any other drive system. Equally important: the integrated machine concept makes sure the machine drive is fully synchronized with all the other electrical driven motors, such as the Electronic Take-Up (ETU) and the Electronic Let-Off (ELO) motor. SUMO is a must have to achieve highest fabric quality.

DeDicateD Sley caM execUtiOnS Makes it possible to weave the most demanding fabrics and yarns, also in larger-width applications, thanks to optimization of the available insertion time.

rObUSt StrUctUre Proven Picanol design. Two solid side frames connected by large section cross bars and the sley driven at both sides by conjugated cams. The set-up that creates the required machine stability and the highest beat-up force. Making it possible to weave any kind of fabric successfully.

inteGrateD preSSUre SenSOr Indicates the air pressure level, making it possible to adapt the machine settings if and when required. Eventually machines could even be stopped if the pressure drops below a certain level.

e-lenO Rotary leno with independent setting of crossing timing left to right through microprocessor. A guarantee for maximum flexibility in setting.

UniqUe triple air tank Set-Up Enables lower air pressure on centre air tank. Minimizes the impact from the relay nozzles on the fabric aspect.

electrOnic preSSUre reGUlatOrS Significantly improved pressure build-off time in the main nozzles thanks to the new set-up of the air preparation. Result: reduced impact on the filling yarn, bringing a real advantage when handling delicate or weak yarns.

electrOnic lenO SySteM (elSy) With individual programming of the weaving pattern. Creating unlimited possibilities for weaving the fabric selvedge.

SMart arGUS Continuously checks if the correct weft yarn number has been put on the bobbin creel. Combined with the possibility to check the position of the filling yarn in the reed channel at the end of insertion.

SUMO Main MOtOr Highly efficient main motor with possibility to change the speed without extra consumption for frequency convertor. The short drive train adds to low power consumption (less gears). Recuperation of brake energy between SUMO main motor, Electronic Let-Off motor, Electronic Take-Up motor and machine electronics is possible thanks to integrated and common power supply.

MUltihOle relay nOzzle Best performance/consumption ratio available on the market. As this nozzle also has the highest traction force, no compromises have to be made when it comes to weaving speed. One of the several elements why the air consumption of OMNIplus Summum is so low. Other example: the relay nozzle valves are positioned very close to the relay nozzles.

FixeD anD MOvable Main nOzzleS The most efficient main nozzles. Type and execution adaptable to type of filling yarn.

arvDplUS Automatic optimization of relay nozzle blowing timings, saving up to 12% on air consumption.

UniqUe triple air tank Set-Up Enables to reduce the pressure on the relay nozzles in the centre section of the fabric. The triple air tank set-up enables the user to set the machine with lowest possible pressure and reduce air consumption by up to 15%.

picanOl blUebOx SySteM Microprocessor speeds and accuracy have been increased by factor 10. Increased memory capacity. Picanol BlueBox is the electronic platform to keep pace with increasing requirements from modern weaving machines.

aUtOMatic crOSSinG MOMent (akM) Direct and unique mechanical set-up – all machines have full pick finding as standard. The crossing timing of the shedding motion can be set from the machine display – no tools required!

SpeeD aDjUStMent Machine speeds can be set and adjusted on the machine display. Changing the speed can be done in real-time using Multispeed or automatically following a pre-programmed speed pattern, for which Optispeed is needed. Makes it very easy to set the maximum possible production speed for a given style.

aUtOSpeeD Adapts the machine speed to the behavior of the filling yarn. Information from the filling detector is centrally processed and if conditions allow it, the microprocessor changes the machine speed and adapts the other machine settings to this new situation – all fully automatically. Meanwhile, the machine stop level is constantly monitored, to make sure that limits set by the user are not exceeded. Autospeed can result in an average speed increase of 3 to 5 %.

qUick Style chanGe (qSc) Unique system with split frame concept. Preparation of new styles can now be done outside the weaving room. A prepared module makes it possible to change the style on a machine in a very short time. Gives an efficiency increase on the entire installation of 3 to 6%.

Page 15: Picanol Weaving

centralizeD lUbricatiOn High-pressure oil pump brings oil from central reservoir to machine parts that require constant lubrication. The oil is constantly filtered and the pressure constantly monitored, assuring long life time of crucial machine parts. Centralized lubrication is far more reliable then splash lubrication. As for maintenance: changing oil can be done very quickly as all the oil can be taken from the central oil reservoir.

cOrDleSS No more need for a catch cord on the right-hand side. From operational as well as logistic point of view, the Cordless system reduces the workload significantly. Also unique in the sense that it is compatible with continuous reeds.
