Pigeon Racing - Learning Tips to Properly Train Your Pigeons

There are many ways to train the young or adult pigeon racing, possibly as many

ways as there are fancier, and some are undoubtedly better than others. For this we

will explain the most practical way of how to train the youngsters. To make it easier, we

divide it in different stages of the preparation of the young:

A) First stage for training the Pigeon racing:

When to wean the young, at the age of 27 to 30 days, if possible, in a loft where

they are alone with other chicks more or less the same age, so that they learn to eat,

drink and fly to the ramp and stops without being harassed by adult birds or chicks

already quite developed. At this stage, the chicks are like babies who do not see the

danger and have to go little by little to acquiring a skill set that will mature in every way.

Therefore we should not force their capabilities in any way and be very patient with her

performance.

Pigeon racing is not cheap and will require other skills, just learning how to respond to

the whistle when they put the food out and get used to our presence, so it is important

not to make sudden movements in the loft.

B) Second stage for training the Pigeon racing:

This period of life of the young chick begin going to the feeder quickly to the call

for lunch and does well in his loft, and starts to have the force in their wings necessary

for flight. At this stage acquires the herd instinct that characterizes its species. In April,

we can let them go outside the loft. The chicks on this date are already 35 to 40 days

old and at this stage it is sufficient to learn to leave the loft and to return to this when we

call for food. Always remember to open the ramp before giving them the food. They start

to learn by fasting all day, and then the homing pigeons start returning to find their food

inside the loft.

C) Third step for training the Pigeon racing:

Once the chicks dominated the entire flight and landing, which is more difficult

at first. Later when they feel safe in the air they can make their first stunt, which will be

very useful in the future to overcome the attacks of predators, but now is more a game

than a necessity. The pigeons fly, rising in the sky and then drop, landing, sometimes

crashing against the roof and will strengthen its wings and the rest of the muscles

necessary for flight, gaining coordination, confidence and strength. And one day, about

60 days old chicks will see that they have formed a small flock, and later joins the rest of

the young apprentices. It is just as when it comes to pigeon racing clubs. The process

must be properly followed to successfully train the pigeon racing!
