Auburn School District Voters Will Vote on Technology Levy in February

The Board of Directors has set a $22,000,000 technology replacement levy for Tuesday, February 11, 2014. The technology levy is a six-year levy and replaces the 2005 technology levy. It provides funding to implement recommendations from the 2013 Technology Citizens Ad Hoc Committee. The 40-member committee of community members, parents, teachers and staff met during the fall to create recommendations on high-yield strategies for learning, access for students and staff, infrastructure and funding. The committee determined this levy is nec-essary to bring 21st Century learning tools into the classroom. This aligns with the district's strategic plan, "Technology will be integral to administration and teaching and learning to prepare all students for career, college and life beyond high school." The technology recommendations include:

Providing 24/7 access to curriculum and coursework for students, parents and teachers to enhance individualized learning

A laptop/tablet for every student to use by the end of the levy

Wireless access in all buildings

Technology enhancements for safety and security

Electronic devices for students for increased engagement and learning

Electronic tools for teachers to improve learning

A comprehensive curriculum to teach Digital Literacy and Citizenship

A robust infrastructure

Technology for collaboration and parent communication

No Increase in School Tax Rate—Rates Remain Level (With the passage of this technology levy, local taxpayers’ projected

school tax rate will remain level.)
