Electrical connectors manufactured of Hycar nitrile rubber by Joy Manufacturing Company for use by Armed Services must pass minus 67° temperature tests. They are shatterproof and moisture and distortion resistant. B.F.Goodrich Chemical Company supplies the Hycar rubber.
At extremely low temperatures, ordinary power connectors for starting aircraft lose flexibility and frequently become so distorted they cannot be used. Costly time losses result.
Connectors molded from Hycar nitrile rubber solved the problem. Even at a frigid — 67°F, Hycar connectors remain flexible and resist distortion. Even more important, they also resist the harmful effects of chemicals, lubricants, fuels and various solvents common around modern aircraft.
Because they retain flexibility, Hycar
connectors withstand daily abuse. They are run over, walked on, exposed to the elements, and dropped.
Torture tests in laboratories of the manufacturer prove they outlast previous connectors by as much as 11 to 1!
Similar connectors meet military ground support and naval underwater specifications. Find out how Hycar rubbers might help you solve a problem, or in the design of a new product.
