• Planmeca’s approach• To create modern learning environment that simulates

real treatment• Features designed for university clinics and teaching

hospitals (e.g. Micromotor speed limitation, He 99 waterline flushing done or not)

• Seamless integration of hardware and software• To develop interactive tutoring and centralized

advisory system that enables remote monitoring, management, and recording of all workplace activities

The modern dental education - Interactive and IT-enabled learning environment

From simulation into a clinical environment

• The Planmeca all in one concept provides a comprehensive solution for preclinical, clinical and research environments due to its seamless hardware and software integration of all different dental treatment elements

a) Planmeca Advanced Simulation Workplace(bench simulation)

b) Planmeca Interactive Digital Simulation free standing workplaces

c) Clinical environment

Page 6: Planmeca Simulation Systems presentation_1

Planmeca Advanced Simulation Workplace (bench simulation)

• Simulates a modern and ergonomically advanced high-tech dental unit

• Enables 2 or 4 handed work and it is instantly left & right convertible

Page 7: Planmeca Simulation Systems presentation_1

Basic elements

• Built on the Planmeca simulation desk system and Planmeca Compact i digital dental unit control system

• Delivery arm with height adjustment (no locking)

• Wide variety of electrically controlled instruments (same as for Planmeca Compact i)• all instrument hoses are

provided with quick connectors

• Instrument sharing is possible if the units are equipped with the instrument interfaces (pcb, cables)

• Balanced instrument arms

Page 8: Planmeca Simulation Systems presentation_1

Basic elements

• Instruments can be controlled either from • Digital foot control or• Control panel

• Phantom head or Phantom torso with manual height adjustment• The cast spring

assisted height adjustment is released by pressing the foot lever which is located in the lower part of the metal gas spring enclosure

• Phantom head or torso

Page 9: Planmeca Simulation Systems presentation_1

Basic elements – control panel

• The control panel and foot control design are similar to those used in the clinical setting -> faster learning and smooth transition from preclinical to clinical environment

Page 10: Planmeca Simulation Systems presentation_1

Seamless integration of modern technology

• PC• LCD screen• Keyboard• Mouse tray – Ergonomic

tray• Left/right simulation

suction arm and suction holder

• Integration with PlanLink• Web cam

• The simulation head and torso and simulation suction arm are mounted onto the sliding guide. This allows instant left-right convertability.

Page 11: Planmeca Simulation Systems presentation_1

Simulation torso height adjustment and ergonomic setting

• Height adjustment for both the simulation head and delivery arm• The height adjustment range for the torso meets ergonomic requirements for all students

incl. Shortest and tallest• The torso angulation can be adjusted from a lever, which is located on the left-hand side

of the lower torso. The lever is within easy reach and does not require searching or leaning by the operators and provides smooth adjustment and positive locking of the angulation

The torso height adjustment is done hygienically by foot

Page 12: Planmeca Simulation Systems presentation_1

End-of-the-day position

• Torso and simulation head can be positioned away • Facilitates maintenance

of the whole workplace• The storage position is

with a torso upright in a 90 degree position

• It is possible to completely remove the torso assembly• Allows for conversion of

the simulation station for alternative applications (technicians e.g.)

Page 13: Planmeca Simulation Systems presentation_1

Planmeca Simulation desk system

• Configurable table system• Adapts to various needs

• Use of phantom head• Use of torso• Left/right convertability

• Modularity• Easy layout planning

Page 14: Planmeca Simulation Systems presentation_1

Planmeca Simulation desk system

• The surfaces of the benches are made of Corian• Corian being nonporous

stains can’t penetrate the surface

• Corian also resists burns and scratches and is easy to wipe clean

• Corian surfaces are completely renewable, cuts and scratches can be easily removed with a sanding pad

Page 15: Planmeca Simulation Systems presentation_1

Dimensions

• The minimum width of one workplace is 1100 mm

Page 16: Planmeca Simulation Systems presentation_1

Dimensions

• The minimum depth of the double cell row is 1100 mm• Grouping 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16

Page 17: Planmeca Simulation Systems presentation_1

Teacher centre

• Dedicated Teacher Centre with space for additional equipment and connectability for Microscope imaging systems, LCD projector interface and voice communication

• High resolution digital camera mounting for the teacher operating light for high quality transmission of images and live video to students and for documentation or learning material production purposes

• Teacher desk can be customized to meet the needs of individual school. Some modular desk frame with integrated simulation system is used

Page 18: Planmeca Simulation Systems presentation_1

Planmeca interactive digital simulation system (clinical simulation)

• Next Step Simulation concept for Seamless transition from preclinical to clinical• A stand alone/independent double workplace • Based on digital control system technology

Page 19: Planmeca Simulation Systems presentation_1

Basic elements

• Delivery arm with height adjustment

• Wide variety of electrically controlled instruments

• Balanced instrument arms• Digital footcontrol• Control panel for instrument

control (spray, chip, rotation)• Phantom head or Phantom torso

with motorized height adjustment

• PC is integrated inside the simulation station

• Planmeca interactive digital simulation workplace supports over the patient delivery concept learning

• Motorized movement of the torso simulates well the clinical environment• The height adjustment range also simulates the actual height adjustment range found in

clinical units

Page 20: Planmeca Simulation Systems presentation_1

Page 21: Planmeca Simulation Systems presentation_1

Simulation torso height adjustment and ergonomic setting

• The range measured from the floor to the upper incisors of the simulation head (torso in the horizontal position) is 70 cm – 115 cm

Page 22: Planmeca Simulation Systems presentation_1

• The Planmeca dental simulation system creates a stimulating learning platform • All the necessary elements of modern dentistry can be included from the very

early stage of dental training• Education to all elements of the digital clinical setting from the very beginning

Stimulating learning platform

Options:• The digital control system

of the simulation system provides an electronic documentation tool for educational purposes (PlanLink)

• Virtual patients and clinical cases can be created with Romexis / Digital Dental Record

Page 23: Planmeca Simulation Systems presentation_1

Cleaning the waterlines

Options:

• Waterline cleaning with Planosil cleaning agent

Page 24: Planmeca Simulation Systems presentation_1

• The upper and lower cabinets are of same width

• The dimension of the upper cabinet is optimal allowing easy aiming of the tubehead

• Both depth and height of the cabinet are bigger compared to previous model

Planmeca Digital Intraoral Simulation

Page 26: Planmeca Simulation Systems presentation_1

• Intra X-ray is mounted on the ceiling of the cabinet

• The new mounting allows aiming the tubehead correctly

• The new mounting also enables turning the tubehead around

Page 27: Planmeca Simulation Systems presentation_1

Otsikko

• Intra X-ray is mounted on the ceiling of the cabinet

• The new mounting allows aiming the tubehead to correct positions

• The new mounting also enables turning the tubehead around

• The free-standing jaw holder accepts the lower part of the training head

• The jaw holder rotates 360 degrees around the fixing point

• The head position can be adjusted vertically and the holder also allows tilting the head-> all the necessary angles needed can be reached
