Slow controlled cooling in furnace at a rate of 50 to 68°F/hr (10 to 20°C/hr) down to approx. 1112°F (600°C), further cooling in air.
Stress relieving
Temperature (°C / °F) 600 / 1112
In hardened and tempered condition approx. 86 to 122°F (30 to 50°C) below the tempering temperature. After through heating, hold at temperature in neutral atmosphere for 1 to 2 hours. Slow cooling in furnance.
Hardening and Tempering

840 / 1544 - 860 / 1580
1544 to 1580°F (840 to 860°C) / oil 1580 to 1616°F (860 to 880°C) / air After through soaking, hold for 15 to 30 minutes. After hardening, tempering to the desired working hardness, see tempering chart.
