Geberit Duofix

Each Geberit Duofix frame can be installed quickly and easily. Shown

here with system rail, the elements are fixed to two rails, secured to

the wall and floor. Water supply and drainage can easily be installed

and connected.

In this picture the units are now ready for cladding.

The completed job. Once cladding has been fixed - tile onto the finished surface and connect the sanitary ware fixtures.

All operating parts except the dual flush plate are hidden behind the wall.

Showers

Choosing the perfect shower

Our friendly staff and/or your plumber will help you with the practicalities of

installation, but to help and assist you in your choice we have explained below the

main domestic water supply systems. Simply look at the system you have in place in

your home and then follow the chart to see which shower is right for you.

Difference in showers

The difference between electric pumped and non-pumped showers is:

(A) Pumped showers are taken off a cold water supply from the storage tank.

(B) Non-pumped showers are taken off the mains water supply.

All electrical shower valves (pumped and non-pumped) work on the

same principle,

The slower the water, the hotter it gets or vise versa

Other Points to Note

All showers with booster pumps or pumps fitted will use

approximately 3-4 times more hot water than gravity systems.

A surrey flange may also be required to stop aeration.

Sirrus manual and thermostatic showers can both be pumped

from unequal water pressure, e. g. mains cold, gravity hot.

A surrey flange is a fitting for the top of the hot water

cylinder. This device allows pumped hot water to be drawn

to the shower directly.

Thermostatic showers have the ability of holding the water

temperature at a fixed level, even if the flow rates change in

the supply.

Care should be taken in relation to the hot water cylinder

capacity when sizing or adding a booster pump, e. g. 1 x 3

bar booster pump with 2 showers, the cylinder should be at

least 35-40 gallon in capacity.

There has also been a phenomenal growth in the power

shower market. We recommend the use of an unvented

cylinder for the best showering experience.

It is common practice for shower enclosure walls to be tiled down

to the top rim of the tray, please check that this is the case with your

shower installation. Our shower doors are sized to fit opening that

are tiled to the top rim of the tray and not behind.

Our Corner Entry, Quadrant and Slider doors feature fully adjustable

profiles to allow for door alignment. The compensating profile for

out of true walls will extend up to 25mm on each side.

Our Corner Entry, Quadrant and Slider doors feature a unique door

mechanism which allows you to clip off the bottom runners for

cleaning (see picture below).

Bathroom suites are very much a fashion item always ask tosee what styles are in vogue i.e. traditional or contemporary.Wall hung sanitary ware is very popular in domestic applicationsand hides unsightly pipework.


y Try to buy a cistern with bottom entry feed, as this will

avoid unsightly pipework being exposed.

y Usually there will be a slight difference in colour shade

between the plastic of toilet seats and bath panels and the

ceramic colour shade of the suite. To avoid this occurring

use wooden seats and panelling.

y It may be a good idea to have a one-tap hole basin complete

with mixer installed our staff will explain the benefits.

y Underfloor tile heating is well worth considering in a main

en-suite. It is easy to install and inexpensive to run.

y Heat your towels on a towel warmer rather than on theradiator. This will keep the room nice and warm as well as

your towels. Ask our staff for details and a brochure.

y When buying a mirror consider one with lights it removes

shadows and makes it easier to put on make up etc.

y Toiletries do not age well when exposed to sunlight on

window ledges etc. They are best stored in a compact piece

of bathroom furniture. Ask our staff for the most suitable

option.

y Massage baths are not as expensive as you first might think

ask our staff for further details.

y We recommend you always try to fit a bigger than standard

(1700 x 700) bath e.g. 1700mm x 750mm or 1800mm x

800mm.

Shower Power Things To Look Out For!

y All electric showers operate on the principle that the faster

the water flows the colder it gets or the slower it flows the

hotter it gets.

y Before buying an electric shower, it would be beneficial to

know your main water pressure.

y An electric shower with a built in pump is not a power

shower!! Electric showers with pumps do not give better

performance. Ask our staff for further details.

y Thermostatic mixer showers are perhaps the most versatile

shower type. Thermostatic mixers draw from your central

heating cylinder and your cold storage tank. They also keep

the temperature constant to within plus or minus 1O

C and

have an automatic shut off to prevent scalding or freezingin the event of a water supply failure.

y With regard to power showers, modular power showers are

favoured over the integral type. Modular power showers

have a separate booster pump, which can be discretely

located elsewhere e.g. in the hot press. You dont have

to endure the loud whirring noise of the integral booster

pump with modular power showers.

y Concealed shower valves can be awkward if you need to

service them you may end up having to replace all of your

tiles. Exposed valves allow greater access for servicing.

y Before installing any power shower, it is important

to first check the size of your hot water cylinder. A

35-gallon cylinder (36x18) is definitely superior to the

standard 27 gallon cylinder often incorrectly called a 30-

gallon cylinder. We strongly recommend that the cylinder

is insulated and has rapid recovery. Ask staff for further

details.

y When installing a shower tray, opt for a larger size tray

for your own comfort. Use a shower tray with upstands

especially in an upstairs situation. Our staff will be happy

to advise you on the best option.

y Most shower door manufactures carry two ranges: a

budget range with the emphasis on price savings and a

luxury range with the emphasis on quality and style. Besure of which range you are getting for your money.

y Whey buying a shower door, try to avoid the corner entry

type if possible. Access to them can be restrictive. Bi Fold,

Pivot and Sliding Doors complete with side panels are

superior in this regard.

y Bathroom furniture is now becoming a necessity in the

bathroom where there now is a high use of personal

toiletry products. Furniture is also ideal to hide unsightly

pipework.
