The Plus-Size Butterfly Takes Center Stage - step by step .doc

1. Cut 12” x 12” Night of Navy CS in half to make two 6” x 12” pieces of card stock

2. Score the piece you will use @ 3” and 9” and fold “wings” toward center of card

3. Cut Whisper White Card Stock 5¾” x 5¾” to use as a card liner

4. Stamp (emboss) desired sentiment in card liner (happy, happy, happy)

5. Stamp (emboss) with multi-coloured Secret Garden Flowers (129144)

6. Versamark (102283) and emboss with Melon Mambo embossing powder (123223) the smallest Papillon

Potpourri (123759) butterflies on to liner

7. Versamark (102283) and emboss with Melon Mambo embossing powder (123223) the smallest Papillon

Potpourri (123759) butterflies on to Whisper White CS

8. Using your Bitty Butterfly punch (129406), punch out your Bitty embossed butterflies

9. Versamark (102283) and emboss (with Melon Mambo embossing powder) two Swallowtail butterflies

on Melon Mambo CS

10. Cut out Swallowtail butterflies.

11. Draw a line down the backside of the Swallowtail bodies, score (I use my Simply Scored tool (122334)

to ensure a perfect fold), and fold butterflies in half

12. Assemble the card

a. Position the Swallowtails so that they wrap around the front opening flap of the card. (We’re trying

to make them look like one butterfly when the card is closed.)

b. Now mark their locations with pencil

c. Put Dimensionals (104430) on the back of only one wing of each butterfly (left on one, right on the

other)

d. Wrap & affix Whisper White Organza ribbon (114319) around the two front “wings of the card

e. Position and affix Swallowtails into place (remembering to attach the wings to the inside of the card)

f. Open the card and attach as many bitty butterflies as you like to the inside of the card (I love

Dimensionals for this it give the card more texture)

g. Dot eash Bitty butterfly with a tiny pearl.

h. Measure & wrap a piece of Whisper White Organza and create a “belly band” to hold your card

closed

13. Now you can send someone you care about their very own Secret Butterfly Garden!

Variation

Instead of using the 2 Plus sized Butterflies you could try a kaleidoscope of Bitty Butterflies floating across

the front!
