PMP ® /CAPM ® Exam Preparation Training The PMP ® /CAPM ® Certification and its Requirements The Project Management Institute (PMI ® , www.pmi.org ) offers two project management credentials (certificates): the Project Management Professional (PMP ® ) and the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM ® ). The PMP ® is recognized as the global standard of the project management profession and has become the leading professional certification, with 206’774 persons certified worldwide and 355 persons certified in Switzerland (Sep. 2006). The CAPM ® has recently been revised and is designed for project team members and entry-level project managers, as well as qualified students (1’438 persons certified, Sep. 2006). The specific requirements: Criteria PMP ® CAPM ® Project management training Minimum of 35 hours 23 hours OR 1’500 hours of pm experience Project management experience 4’500 hours (for candidates holding a bachelors degree or equivalent) or 7’500 hours (for candidates with a high school diploma or equivalent), 1’500 hours OR 23 hours of formal training Additional Agree to abide by the PMI® code of professional conduct Examination Passing a multiple-choice 200 question examination in 4 hours Passing a multiple- choice 150 question examination in 3 hours Why become PMP ® /CAPM ® certified? The PMP ® credential signifies established project management training, experience and knowledge. It tells current and potential employers that you have a solid foundation of project management knowledge that can be readily applied in the workplace. The CAPM ® can benefit a wide range of team members who want to gain knowledge and demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of project management processes and terminology. General Information about PMP ® /CAPM ® Certification The cost of the examination itself, payable to PMI ® , is currently $405 for PMI ® members and $555 for PMI ® nonmembers. A PMP® must demonstrate an ongoing commitment to the field of project management by satisfying the Continuing Certification Requirements of PMI®, e.g. either by participating in PMI® congresses, events, seminars, etc. or by giving project management courses, seminars, etc. Content of PMP®/CAPM® Exam Prep Training This PMP®/CAPM® exam preparation training is in alignment with the most recent PMBOK® Guide (Third Edition, 2004) from PMI®, as well as with other standard project management literature in English. PMP®/CAPM® exam preparation material must be purchased by each participant. Additional references and handout material will be supplied during the course by the trainer.
