Making a positive difference to our community is a core value at Sainsbury’s. My colleagues were particularly impressed by the work that Porchlight does. We were delighted to have them as our Charity of the Year. Sainsbury’s Canterbury

It has always been important to us that we adopt a charity that supports those in need in our city and Porchlight was top of the list as they work tirelessly, helping those who are living on our city streets or face the threat of homelessness. We know every penny we raise will help make a difference to those they support. Best Western Abbots Barton Hotel

Homelessness can happen to anyone. Often it’s a series of events that spiral out of control. The people we support tell us that being homeless, or facing the threat of losing your home, is frightening, degrading and soul-destroying.

At Porchlight we believe that everyone has a right to a safe and secure home. Each year we support around 2,500 children and adults to change their lives.

We help people who are rough sleeping to access housing. We also provide supported accommodation and offer advice and support to young people, adults and families to prevent homelessness.

The money you raise will help us to support homeless, disadvantaged and vulnerable people in your local community.

Porchlight got me off the streets. I don’t know where I would have been without them. Lisa, 16

£40 Could provide a room and staff support to a 16 year old for a day, to help them turn their life around in one of our accommodation projects.

Being homeless is as bad as it seems. The rough sleeper team helped me find accommodation. I was brought back from the brink of becoming another homeless statistic, another death on the street. Now I have a flat and for the first time in a long time I have the chance to focus on the future.

Shaun£500 Could pay for the rent deposit for someone who is moving into their own independent flat.

What we do

Your support can change lives like these:

Having a roof over my head has allowed me to get my life back together. John£1200 Could cover the cost of calls to the Porchlight 24-hour helpline for one year.

Without Porchlight I would be homeless. They have given me back my inner strength. My life was falling apart and they gave me hope. Thank you. Jenna , 27£100 Could provide 5 welcome packs (of food, toiletries and cleaning products) for people moving into one of our hostels
