WHO I AM.

I am a designer. I think. Sometimes I over think. I ask questions and constantly self-editing. I watch documentaries, TV shows and read about every random thing I can get my hands on as it all intrigues me—it all becomes part of my arsenal of knowledge and thought. I go to gallery events and conferences, or even just walk the streets of the city because my mind craves social interac-tion. I love talking, and most of all, inspiring a lively conversation. I am from New Jersey and as child I can remember dreaming of running away to Manhattan—even as a child I loved being in the middle of madness. It's a place where I thrive. I have now realized it's my mind at work craving the challenge—to make sense out of the chaos around me. I am a designer. I grew up with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). After years of trying to fit a triangle peg, into a hexagonal hole; I have found my place in this world. My mind allows me to brainstorm in a flurry of thoughts, images and concepts with avid enthusiasm. I run loops and circles, touching corners of ideas most people avoid, only to come back and find the answer. I am non-linear. After years of not being OK with ADD, I see it now as my greatest strength as a designer and ulti-mately as a creative problem solver.

The opening day of DYSTOPIA will be started off by the well known author, Paul Roberts. Paul Roberts will be bringing you up to spead with the core issues of Peak Oil. Opening up the conference with a strong insightful look at the basis for the entire purpose of DYSTOPIA. We want you to know exactly what the issues are before we move forward. The first day will also be a time for visitors to explore the grounds that the conference is being held on. 01

02The second day of the conference will be bringing the reality of the corporate infrastructure and cultural attachment to petroleum. The longest of the three days looking at the American Dream and how we are sold what we want. In the midst of a transitional generation it is about you and how you precieve the importance of petroleum. We again invite you to explore the conference grounds to see just what our dystopic future will look like.

The third and final day of the conference will be concentrating on the fall out and social collapse that could come from Peak Oil. The day looks like there is less going on however the final discussion board is slated to be a far more indepth conversa-tion with a large panel that will be involving the audience. ESitting in a room that looks like a bunker, Ruppert recounts his career as a radical thinker and

spells out the crises he sees ahead. He draws upon the same news reports and data available to any

Internet user, but he applies a unique interpretation. He is especially passionate about the issue

of “peak oil,” the concern raised by scientists since the seventies that the world will eventually

run out of fossil fuel. While other experts debate this issue in measured tones, Ruppert doesn’t

hold back at sounding an alarm, portraying an apocalyptic future. Listening to his rapid flow of

opinions, the viewer is likely to question some of the rhetoric as paranoid or deluded, and to sway

back and forth on what to make of the extremism. Smith lets viewers form their own judgments.

GA Crude Awakening: The Oil Crash explores key historical events, data and predictions regarding

the global peak in petroleum production through interviews with petroleum geologists, former OPEC

officials, energy analysts, politicians, and political analysts. The film contains contemporary

footage interspersed with news and commercial footage from the growth heyday of petroleum production.

The documentary focuses on information and testimony that supports the projection of a near-term

oil production peak.

The documentary examines our dependence on oil, showing how oil is essential for almost every facet

that originated as a government-chartered institution meant to effect specific public functions, to

the rise of the modern commercial institution entitled to most of the legal rights of a person. One

theme is its assessment as a “personality”, as a result of an 1886 case in the United States Supreme

Court in which a statement by Chief Justice Morrison R. Waite [nb 1] led to corporations as “persons”

having the same rights as human beings, based on the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States

Constitution. The film’s assessment is effected via the diagnostic criteria in the DSM—IV; Robert

Hare, a University of British Columbia psychology professor and a consultant to the FBI, compares

the profile of the contemporary profitable business corporation to that of a clinically-diagnosed

psychopath. The documentary concentrates mostly upon North American corporations, especially those

of the United States.
