Consultant Anaesthetist—Pilbara WA Country Health Service (WACHS) Pilbara is seeking a highly motivated Consultant Anaesthetist based at Hedland Health Campus. Salary as per Department of Health Medical Practitioners (WA Country Health Service) AMA Industrial Agreement 2011: Full Time (80 hours per fortnight), Fixed Term Consultant , Year 1- 6 $330,230 - $383,817pa* *includes base salary $193,961- $247,548, professional development allowance $26,295, district allowance $15,670, an allowance in lieu of private practice billing $94,304. Rates effective 1st January 2013. In addition, 9% employer contributed superannuation, access to salary packaging up to $19,000 pa, professional development opportunities and study leave/assistance, flexible leave arrangements, housing rental subsidy, access to motor vehicle and relocation assistance apply to this position. A gratuity payment equivalent to 12 weeks salary the first 3 years of continuous service, and annual gratuity incentive payments thereafter. About the Package The Region The Consultant Anaesthetist will provide anaesthetist services, including pre-admission clinics, ward services and participation in emergency on call services. In this role the successful applicant will support the Pilbara region’s District Medical Officers Anaesthetists with respect to their professional development, ongoing credentialing and anaesthetic case management. The successful applicant must be eligible for registration by the Medical Board of Australia and will have demonstrated experience in general, obstetric, paediatric and emergency anaesthesia. Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists or equivalent, at the date of commencement of duties. Demonstrated understanding of issues within a cross-cultural environment is essential. Experience in a remote or rural anaesthesia setting; transport and retrieval anaesthesia and High Dependency Unit is highly desirable for this role. Port Hedland is a dynamic town of over 20,000 people. The lifestyle is relaxed and open. The town’s location on the ocean provides for a variety of aquatic leisure activities including superb fishing. South Hedland is situated approximately 20km south of Port Hedland and offers a range of community services including cultural, recreation and shopping facilities. Karratha is a modern town. Its size and central location make it the idea base for exploring the delights of Millstream Chichester National Park, Dampier Archipelago and Point Samson. Marble Bar is known as the hottest town in Australia. Set in a rugged landscape, the area boasts both natural beauty and historic charm. Newman sits on the edge of the Western Desert, the town is dominated by Mount Newman and there is plenty available for lovers of nature. Paraburdoo boasts some of the world’s largest open cut mines, largest pastoral leases and cattle stations and a thriving fishing industry all set against a beautiful ancient landscape. Onslow has a population of around 800. It is blessed by its proximity to the ocean, with sunrise and sunset beaches surrounding the town. Roebourne is a former gold rush town, located 202km from Port Hedland and was once the largest settlement between Darwin and Perth. Wickham has glorious sweeping views of the sunset, and pristine sandy beaches. Tom Price is located inland, at the edge of the Hamersley Range. It is the highest town above sea level in Western Australia, and is consequently named “Top Town in WA”.
