Dear Parent or Caregiver

Go to PBSKIDS.org to play math games with your child to reinforce counting, sorting, and sharing skills.

Game: Curious George: Bubble Pophttp://pbskids.org/curiousgeorge/busyday/bubbles/

George is having fun taking a soapy bath! Count bubbles as you and your child pop them, either by clapping (requires a microphone) or by clicking.

Video: Curious George: Sail A Boat http://www.pbslearningmedia.org/collection/curiousgeorge/

Scroll to find the video and watch with your child. Ask how Curious George sorted the recycled items in his masterpiece (by color) and challenge your child to think of another way George could have sorted his items. Then work together to collect and sort recycled materials from your own home to create a piece of art.

Visit your local library to check out books on counting, sorting, and sharing. Look for:

• Curious George Learns to Count from 1 to 100 by H. A. Rey

• Ten, Nine, Eight by Molly Bang

• Feast for 10 by Cathryn Falwell

Help your child explore math with hands-on activities you can do at home. Try:

Curious George: Sort It Outhttp://www.pbs.org/parents/curiousgeorge/activities/pc_sort_it_out.html

In this activity, you and your child will collect objects from around the house and sort them in different ways. The activity will help your child notice details, compare differences, and try out different sorting strategies.

Talk to your child about what he or she did after camp each day. Ask what task George had to complete, and how the group was able to help him out.

Welcome to PBS KIDS Summer Adventure! During the week, your child will join Curious George as he goes out for a Busy Day Adventure. As George waters flowers, visits a dog show, picnics at the park—and even watches a rocket blast off into space—your child will practice various math skills and help George. Your child will count by ones up to 20, sort and compare groups of items, count backwards, investigate how to share items fairly, and practice counting by fives and tens.

Here are some suggestions for supporting your child’s learning during the coming week:

Juego: Curious George: Bubble Pophttp://pbskids.org/curiousgeorge/busyday/bubbles/

Video: Curious George: Sail A Boat http://www.pbslearningmedia.org/collection/curiousgeorge/

Busque:

• Curious George Learns to Count from 1 to 100 por H. A. Rey

• Ten, Nine, Eight por Molly Bang

• Feast for 10 por Cathryn Falwell

Pruebe:

Curious George: Sort It Outhttp://www.pbs.org/parents/curiousgeorge/activities/pc_sort_it_out.html
