Baroque Architecture
Elements of the Baroque style are found throughout Europe. In Italy, the Baroque style is reflected in opulent and dramatic churches with irregular shapes and extravagant ornamentation. In France, the highly ornamented Baroque style combines with Classical restraint.Russian aristocrats were impressed by Versailles in France, and incorporated Baroque ideas in the building of St. Petersburg.

Herrenchiemsee - King Ludwig
This is Bavarian King Ludwig's II largest castle.
The king decided to make a replica of Versailles,
but only managed to build the central portion before funds ran out.
What exists is very impressive, with French gardens,
a big hall of mirrors,
and a state room
where classical concerts
are held.
This palace is located on
an island named
"Herreninsel"
in the lovely lake Chiemsee.
