INTRODUCTION OF BSNL

On October 1, 2000 the Department of Telecom Operations, Government of Indiabecame a corporation and was established as Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited

(BSNL).

BSNL is fourth largest department of telecommunication company in ASIA &seventh largest in world today.

It has latest digital switching technology like OCB, EWSD etc. for faster and

better connectivity.

BSNL provides many useful services like:

1. Basic telephone services

2. Internet broadband services

3. Cellular mobile services

4. Leased lines

5. IPTV

6. Wimax7. Wi-Fi

BASIC TELEPHONESERVICES

BSNL is the largest telecom operator in India and is known to

everybody for Basic Telephony Services for over 10 years.

Presently, Country wide telephone service is being provided through32,000 electronic exchanges, 326 Digital Trunk Automatic Exchanges(TAX), Digitalized Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN).

All these are interlinked by over 2.4lakh km of Optical Fiber Cable,with a host of Phone Plus value additions to our valued Customers.

BSNL's telephony network expands throughout the vast expanses of

the country reaching to the remotest part of the country.

CELLULAR MOBILE SERVICES

We can use BSNL Mobile in over 160 countries worldwide and in

270 cellular networks and over 1000 cities/towns across India.

It has got coverage in all National and State Highways and train

routes. BSNL Mobile offers all India Roaming facility to both pre-

paid and post-paid customers.

It also provides 3G services, video confrensing , image transfer and

many other useful services by ISDN (Integrated service digital

network)

C.D.M.A (Code division multiple access):

Cdma works on code division multiple access technique.It is also known as green phone.

G.S.M (Global system for mobile communication):

Gsm works on time division multiple access technique(tdma)& frequency division multiple access technique(fdma)

INTERNET BROADBAND SERVICES

BSNL launched Data One broadband service in January 2005

which shall be extended to 198 cities very shortly.

The service is being provided on existing copperinfrastructure on ADSL2 technology.

Subsequently , other services such as VPN, Multicasting,Video Conferencing, Video-on-Demand, Broadcast applicationetc will be added.

BSNL BROADBAND PROVIDE SUCH

FACILITIES LIKE:

It provides: Internet dial up access.

Leased line access.

CLI based access.

DIAS service, for web browsing.

E-mail applications.

BROADBAND: It is an ¶always on· data connection i.e. able to

support interactive services including Internet access and has the

capability of the minimum download speed of 256 kbps.

OPTICAL FIBER CABLE(OFC)



In OFC information is transmitted

through a glass or plastic fiber in fromof light.

Information is encoded intoelectrical signals.

Electrical signal is converted intolight signals.

Light down the fiber.

Detector changes the lightsignal into electrical signals.

Electrical signals are decoded into

information.
