    SECTION 1: Semantic Differences

    Contrast the meaning between each of the following pairs of sentences and words. Where possible, use the correct

    metalanguage (grammatical terminology) in your explanations.

    SECTION 2: Language Analysis

    Analyse the following utterances in terms of their meaning, form (syntactical and morphological), and

    pronunciation (word stress and/or sentence stress and intonation pattern, using the phonemic script, if you are able

    to do this). Where possible, use the correct metalanguage in your explanations. Note that this should be a linguistic

    analysis as far as your knowledge extends, and not the kind of explanations you would necessarily use for learners.
