Excellence We continue our spirit of EXCELLENCE and HIGH ACHIEVEMENT. Local
GOLD medal high school winners go on to compete at the national level. DuPage County ACT-SO students have won numerous awards in all of the
major categories at the national level.
Growth Our student hone their skills and prepare for competition through our
enrichment sessions and the guidance of coaches and mentors. Our high school students can choose from 31 competition categories within STEM,
Humanities, Performing Arts, Visual Arts and Business.
Goals We develop LEADERS through our Mentoring and Enrichment, Improve
presentation skills, and Expose youth to STEM, Business and the Arts. We help narrow the Achievement Gap and enable better post-secondary and
career decisions for our students.
Student Eligibility Requirements
Students must be: • U.S. Citizens • African-American • High school or middle school student • High School Student
• Enrolled in grades 9 – 12 • Amateurs in their choice of up to 3 categories
• Middle School Student (Jr. ACT-SO) • Enrolled in grades 6-8

DuPage County ACT-SO (Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics) is pleased to present our Sponsorship Opportunities Packet. We depend on sponsorships and volunteers to support local program initiatives and gold medalist expenses at the annual National ACT-SO competition in July. DuPage County ACT-SO is a local chapter of the National ACT-SO program that has been in existence since 1977. ACT-SO is the brain child of the world renowned author and Chicago journalist Vernon Jarrett. The program seeks to galvanize the community in encouraging and supporting academic and artistic excellence. Students participate in a 9-month enrichment program supported by professional mentors and coaches. Our student participants enhance their presentation skills, raise their self-confidence, gain a greater realization of their talents and abilities, and refine their interest in college majors and careers. DuPage County ACT-SO has an impressive record of producing national medalists – particularly in the STEM, Music, Entrepreneurship and Architecture categories. Since 2009 we have produced multiple national medalists each year at the National ACT-SO Competition! Whether they earn a medal or not, those students who persevere and see their project or performance through to completion are truly winners! The competition and awards ceremony are the culmination of intense research, dedicated preparation and the true commitment represented by the sheer talent of youth. We invite you to join us in supporting DuPage County ACT-SO. The local competition will be held on the third Saturday in March at the College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd., in Glen Ellyn and is open to the public. You can also experience the anticipation and excitement as we present the bronze, silver and gold medals in the categories of STEM, Humanities, Business, Performing Arts and Visual Arts. You will be treated to an enjoyable time that will feature a live band for entertainment at the Bolingbrook Golf Club on the next day (Sunday) after the competition from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM. Each event usually has about 500 people in attendance. We look forward to collaborating with you and your organization! Your contributions and attendance will both be appreciated!
