Cómo jugar el juego “La carrera de palabras”

¡PREPÁRATE!• Haz este juego con dos a cuatro amigos. Pídele a un adulto (Guía Sesame) que lea en voz alta las palabras, las defi niciones y los retos.• Haz copias de las Páginas de actividades para niños y de las piezas del juego “La carrera de palabras” (en el CD).• Recorta las piezas del juego “La carrera de palabras” para cada jugador.• Coloca el juego sobre una superfi cie lisa. • Coloca las Tarjetas de palabras mezcladas en un grupo.

CÓMO JUGAR:• Coloca las piezas al COMIENZO en una línea.• Con la ayuda de tu Guía Sesame, decide quién irá primero, después, y así sucesivamente.• Elige una tarjeta y escucha al Guía Sesame mientras lee la palabra y su defi nición.• Voltea la tarjeta y escucha al Guía mientras lee el reto.• Haz el reto, luego mueve tu pieza el número de espacios en la tarjeta (Si caes sobre la tapa de alcantarilla, haz el reto extra de la “palabra en acción”).• Luego recoge una de las Páginas de actividades que corresponda con la palabra.• Coloca tu tarjeta al fi nal del grupo de tarjetas. • Después dale el turno a otro jugador y así sucesivamente.

CÓMO GANAR:El juego se acaba cuando alguien llega al fi nal de la calle. Descubrir cuán emocionantes son las palabras, ¡puede ser tan divertido!

How to play the Word Race Game

GET READY:• Play with two to four friends. Ask a grown-up (your Sesame Guide) to read aloud the words, defi nitions, and challenges.• Make copies of the Children’s Activity Sheets and the Word Race game pieces (from the CD).• Cut out a game piece for each player.• Place the Word Race Game on a fl at surface. • Place the shuffl ed Word Cards in a pile.

NOW YOU’RE READY TO PLAY, HERE’S HOW:• Line up your pieces at START.• With your Sesame Guide’s help, decide who will go fi rst, next, and so on.• Pick a Word Card and listen as your Sesame Guide reads the word and its defi nition.• Flip the card over and listen as the Sesame Guide reads the challenge.• Do the challenge, then move your piece the number of spaces on the card. (If you land on the manhole, do the extra “word up” challenge too!)• Then collect the Activity Sheet that matches the word.• Put your Word Card at the bottom of the pile. • Then let the next player have a turn, and so on.

HOW TO WIN:The game is over when everyone reaches the end of the street. Discovering how exciting words can be is fun!
