Student is struggling with academics, behavior, social skills, etc.

Teacher Assistance Team (TAT) meets to discuss student. If in agreement, begin 30 days of Prereferral interventions. - Contact parents to let them know interventions are beginning

TAT meets at end of 30 days to discuss progress

Unsuccessful – -TAT refers to CST -Begin SE process with Referral Review

Some progress seen -continue interventions - set date for TAT return

30 school days to conduct evaluation

Evaluation team meeting to discuss evaluation results, Eligibility requirements, and student needs

Student meets eligibility requirements and has identified needs for Special Education

IEP team meets to write an Individual Education Plan - based on needs identified in the evaluation

IEP implemented after parent signature IEP progress reported same as general education – 4X/yr

- one report must be written - progress toward goals and objectives

**New IEP written annually **Reevaluation conducted at least every 3 years

Bemidji Area Schools’ Special Education (SE) Process K-12

Evaluation team meeting with parents to plan evaluation - parent signature for evaluation

Successful - end process

Student does not meet eligibility requirements - end SE process - look at alternatives available to the family

- 504 - outside tutoring

- outside agencies
