The Poker Boom

The poker boom was spurned by Chris Moneymaker’s WSOP main event win in 2003.

Moneymaker originally qualified for his seat during an online satellite tournament.

In 2003, the main event had 839 entrants and the top prize was $2,500,000.

Poker at Home

Poker sets can be found everywhere.

It’s pretty inexpensive to collect the supplies, but can be expensive if you’re a poor player.

Because of the poker boom, there’s no shortage of interest, especially on college campuses.

Poker in Delaware

In the past year, table games were legalized in Delaware, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Harrington’s, Delaware Park and Dover Downs all have poker rooms replete with daily tournaments.

Even though No Limit Texas Hold’em began as a Tournament game, Cash games have become increasingly popular.

In these 24-hour poker rooms, poker never actually stops.

Difficulties Encountered

I had trouble formatting for 1024x768 and found myself making multiple adjustments to all of my web pages (of which there are more than a dozen).

I struggled with finding a suitable background image.

Introducing the subject was difficult, I felt most college-aged people probably know plenty about poker already.

What I Learned

Consistency is very important from page to page.

Creating an effective and simple layout is more difficult than I imagined.

Poker isn’t quite as simple to explain as I expected.

I actually had some fun building the site, so I definitely plan to use this information in the future.
