First United Sailboat Show, 1970

ABOUT ANNAPOLIS BOAT SHOWS

The 1970 debut of the United States Sailboat Show in Annapolis, Maryland marked a new concept - the first in-water sailboat show in the country. Today, the Annapolis Boat Shows has an unsurpassed reputation for offering the most comprehensive boating exhibitions in the industry.

Each of our boat shows give boaters the unique opportunity to board and inspect virtually every new model on the market, make side-by-side comparisons, and talk to industry representatives about all aspects of buying and owning a boat. Exhibitors are highly motivated to put you in the boat of your dreams at the best possible price. In addition, one can shop from a vast display of boating products and services - everything from financing and insurance to electronics and foul weather gear. It’s always a fun and informative day exploring boats and boat supplies.

ABOUT THE UNITED STATES SAILBOAT SHOW

One of the many very exciting aspects of national/international boat shows is the introduction of new products, and the Annapolis Boat Shows are no exception to that rule. Each year dozens of premiering sailboats make their debut in the United States Sailboat Show (October 10-14) as this Annapolis show is the largest in the world and the only remaining show of its kind in America. The in-water sailboat show was invented in Annapolis in 1970 and now, 50 years later, can celebrate not only being the only in-water, all-sail international sailboat show, but the largest show in its history.

There is little doubt as to why this location is chosen by international manufacturers for unveiling their new models, product innovations, and corporate sales programs. Little boats, performance sailboats, multi-hulls, and innovative monohulls spring from the drawing boards of engineers and designers from around the world and come to life to converge on Annapolis each fall. This year an impressive lineup of new and premiering boats are being introduced:

SOME OF THE NEW BOATS INCLUDE:

Beneteau First Yacht 53, Dock F2: Capitalizing on 40 years of expertise, the First Yacht 53 is the latest member of the First range, launched by BENETEAU in 1977. With a well-balanced hull and helm for unique sensations, easy-flow deck plan, modern marine interior with a décor of white lacquered bulkheads and molded wood, the First Yacht 53 gets the renewal of the new generation of First sailing yachts truly underway!

Excess 12, Dock C: Like all the catamarans of this range, Excess 12 is for those who dream of a cruising catamaran that provides real sailing sensations. Excess 12 has an assertive and qualitative personality that breaks with the codes of traditional sailing. Its design embodies both sportsmanship and modernity. Excess 12 is a sophisticated, balanced and refined boat with a strong perso nality, sleek lines, elegant proportions, and perfect balance.

Hallberg-Rassy 48 MK II, Dock E2: The Hallberg-Rassy 48 is a true bluewater cruiser that offers more natural light, more comfort and more elegance than ever before. With three double cabins and a vast saloon, she offers great space for modern comfort aids. Known far and wide for sturdy construction, superb craftsmanship, and signature seaworthiness, Hallberg-Rassy boats are globally respected for their elegant lines and spirited performance.

NEEL 47 Trimaran, Dock C: The NEEL 47 is the result of many hours of navigation, configuration and exploration. The NEEL 47 takes up the fundamental principles of NEEL: safety and comfort at sea, the finesse of steering, performance, weight distribution centered to the main hull, and elimination of unnecessary manufacturing and maintenance costs. The boat stands out for its simplicity.

Dufour 390 and 430, Dock F2: The Dufour 390 and 430, the new generation of the Dufour Grand Large – the third since the range was launched 2005, represents a perfect match between performance, easy handling, and comfort. Hulls with softened and raised bilge strake, optimized deck plans to take full advantage of your sailing and stopovers, new standard equipment, and connected technology.

Tiwal intends to make the Tiwal 2 the essential toy aboard cruising boats.

Amel 50, Dock E1: An accessible and versatile model. With this model, the shipyard broadens the scope of use and opens up new prospects at sea. While not aiming to compete with racing yachts, the AMEL 50 promises superb sensations, allowing owners to choose the way they use their boat.

SUN FAST 3300, Dock F2: Grand Prix designer Guillaume Verdier and rating-rules expert Daniel Andrieu, created this bold offshore capable sport boat by combining concepts from the world of high powered offshore racing with the already successful Jeanneau Sun Fast line. These designers have finally delivered the boat that sailors everywhere have been waiting for; a high performance racer, designed to excel under mainstream rating rules, capable of sailing fully crewed or shorthanded. The Sun Fast 3300 sets a new bar for performance.

Kinetic Catamarans, Dock K1: This impressive machine is designed to offer more – more performance, more luxury, and more sailing enjoyment. The carbon bodies are light in weight and big on power. Based in the USA, these vessels are designed by Simonis Voogd and built-in our highly experienced yard in South Africa in collaboration with international partners.

Bavaria C50, Dock C: The BAVARIA C50 is nothing less than a new benchmark in the 50-foot yacht category. The walk-on deck is free of edges and steps, the hatches recessed into the deck provide optimum lighting and ventilation. Everything is clear and minimalist, reflecting our understanding of good, modern yacht design.
