IntroductionFirst and foremost, thank you for purchasing Toadally Primal Smoothies.

This ebook contains dozens of primal/paleo smoothie recipes. Smoothies that nourish us.

Inside you will find 150 different smoothie recipes. All recipes contain exact ingredient measurements, a picture, nutritional information and comments/suggestions.

DisclaimerI am not a physician, doctor, nurse, nutritionist or anything else of the sort. I am a modern day caveman who is trying to inspire millions around the world to live a healthy, happy, vibrant lifestyle. Please consult your health care professional before acting upon any advice you read inside this book.

Who Is Primal Toad?Primal Toad's real name is Todd Dosenberry. However, he prefers to be called Primal Toad or just Toad. On a side note, I am not a fan of writing in third person.

A former Nintendo Wii and American Eagle clothing eBay power-seller, I currently blog at PrimalToad.com, PrimalSmoothies.com and WildeRootes.com (soon). To learn more about my Primal journey, please visit PrimalToad.com. I went primal on April 5, 2010 and launched PrimalToad.com 3 weeks later.

I have an enthusiastic passion for inspiring lives around the globe. It puts a smile on my face when someone tells me that I have made a difference in their life. In turn, this motivates me to continue to do what I do.

Toadally Primal Smoothies WebsiteThis website is a work in progress. I strongly suggest your frequent this website starting today. A membership portion is in the works and will be 100% free for you. I'll be adding a forum in the near future too.

6

Page 7: Primal Smoothies

I now update this ebook once every 2 to 4 months. However, I am constantly creating new smoothies. If you want the new recipes that will be added to this ebook then you will want to engage within the membership portion of the website when it's ready. You will receive an email when it's up and running.

What Makes a Recipe Low Carb?If the total carbohydrate count for a recipe is 33 grams or less then it will be labeled low carb. If it's 16 grams or less then it will be labeled very low carb.

If you want to know my reasoning then feel free to email me at [email protected].

What Is A Toadally Primal Smoothie?Grains, legumes and dairy are not technically primal. However, we are not living in caveman times. You use a computer and refrigerator, right? Some recipes inside this book have whey protein powder, sour cream and/or yogurt. No smoothies contain legumes or grains outside of chocolate.

In general, all recipes contain much less carbs in comparison to traditional smoothies. They are healthy and divine. The more I create, the more creative I become.

The Hamilton Beach Personal BlenderI create all the smoothie recipes inside this ebook with the Hamilton Beach personal blender. It is as simple as they come and does the job perfectly. It chops my crushed ice, blends greens into a liquid and has never failed in over a years time.

The blender is small and perfect for traveling. It has a 20 ounce capacity which is perfect for a personal smoothie. It is also incredibly easy to clean.

You can buy it on Amazon for only $17 or you can purchase their updated version that comes with 2 lids and 2 blenders/cups for about $21. Go to Blender.PrimalToad.com to learn more.

I do not recommend any other blender at the moment. Save your money, manage your stress and make every single recipe in this book with the Hamilton Beach personal blender.

A Word on Raw EggsA few recipes inside this book include whole raw eggs. Others include just raw egg yolks. I would personally never eat a raw conventionally raised chicken egg. I do not trust the source.

It is often said that pastured raised chicken eggs have far more nutrition than conventionally raised chicken eggs. Would you rather eat eggs from hens who live a healthy, fun, vibrant lifestyle like they are meant to? Or, would you prefer to eat eggs from hens who are stuffed in cages living miserable lifestyles?

People worry about salmonella food poisoning. The concern is somewhat necessary if you eat raw conventional eggs. Living a healthy lifestyle also decreases the chances of obtaining food poisoning. If you have a known risk of developing salmonella food poisoning then you should consult with your healthcare professional about consuming raw eggs.

One potential problem with raw egg whites is the anti-nutrient that gets destroyed during cooking. This anti-nutrient binds to biotin and prevents your body from absorbing this nutrient. I personally don't worry about eating a dozen or less whole raw eggs per month and I surely won't worry about consuming any amount of raw egg yolks.

Recipe LayoutThe layout for all recipes is the same. Each part is explained below.

Under the Title – Colored LabelsBeneath the title of each recipe are labels. The labels are as follows:

LC: If a recipe has between 17 and 33 grams of carbohydrate or less then it is labeled “Low Carb” or LC for short.

VLC: If a recipe has 16 grams of carbohydrate or less then it is labeled “Very Low Carb” or VLC for short.

SD: I am a big fan of Diane Sanfilippo's 21 Day Sugar Detox program. If you are doing this program and still want to enjoy smoothies then you can safely enjoy all recipes that are labeled SD. The ones labeled “SD2” are approved for level one and two.

DF: Do you want to enjoy a dairy free smoothie? Look for this label which is short for “Dairy Free.” More than 100 recipes are dairy free.

PR: Are you looking for more protein in your smoothie? When a recipe has 24 grams of protein or more then it will be labeled as “protein rich” or PR for short.

Under the Title – kCal & GLBeneath the title of each recipe is the calorie count (kCal) and glycemic load (GL). The glycemic load is a measurement used to determine a foods' effect on blood sugar levels. Keep in mind that it's just a number and should be used as only a guide. A GL of 1-10 is low, 11-20 is

8

Page 9: Primal Smoothies

medium and 21-30 is high. Only 3 recipes have a GL of more than 15.

RecipeThe spoon/cup measurement as well as the measurement in grams is provided. If you have a food scale I strongly recommend using it for all recipes. You will be able to make your recipes a lot faster and will not have as much cleaning up to do after.

I use this food scale: FoodScale.PrimalToad.com

Comments & SuggestionsThese are comments and suggestions for the recipe. These will come in handy often!

Nutrition Data: MacronutrientsThis section includes an overview of the carbohydrate, protein and fat content. The fiber, sugar and omega 6 fatty acid content are also included. The lower the omega 6 content the better.

Nutrition Data: Vitamins & MineralsIncluded are the top 10 most abundant vitamins and minerals in reach recipe. As noted below, this is not 100% accurate but as accurate as possible.

Important Recipe NotesThe recipes with Primal Fuel simply have more vitamins and minerals than stated. I have no idea what is contained in Mark's incredible product. He does not know either. If I find out I will update the primal fuel recipes nutrition data.

And, again, the data is as accurate as possible. There are too many varieties of too many foods for it to be 100% accurate.

Where to Buy Smoothie IngredientsUse this list as a general guideline on where to find smoothie ingredients. I will always recommend that you look to buy as many local foods as you possibly can. This can start with growing your own! If you have a garden, hunt and /or fish then kudos to you. I hope to get there soon!

For some specific foods I have provided links. Some are affiliate links and some are not. Either way, I will always only recommend products I can stand behind 100%. I also link to general stores. My favorite is Amazon.

Important Note: I am currently working on an ingredient guide. With it, you will know the best sources for all ingredients as well as other important information. It will help guide you to create awesome smoothie recipes yourself.

Sponsors

Mark Sisson and his company, Primal Nutrition, is the sole sponsor for this ebook. Mark has been a leader in the Primal community and an inspiration for my blog and Primal Smoothie e-book.

Over the last two years, Mark has led Primal Con, a health and fitness retreat made up of Primal enthusiasts. I attended for the first time this past April. It was, by far, the most fun and educational 4 days of my life. One highlight of the trip was the Primal Fuel Smoothies we all enjoyed for lunch. Primal Fuel is a low-carb meal replacement powder that is excellent in smoothies. Eighteen recipes inside this ebook contain Primal Fuel.

The 21 Day Total Body Transformation is Mark Sisson's newest book. This is the book I recommend to anyone who wishes to learn more about the primal lifestyle. I'll be discussing this book at my personal primal journey blog, PrimalToad.com.
