  • PRINTMAKING - AN INTRODUCTION Walter Dsouza

    Walter Dsouza studied painting and print making at the faculty of fine arts M.S. University, Baroda in 1981 Completing his Masters in Print making (1983) from the same institute, he move down to Ahmedabad and was given the task to set up the print studio at Kanoria Centre for Arts with whom he was associated, till 1995. He taught the basic design course at the school of Architecture, CEPT University along with Miki Desai from 1989 till 2010. He was on the Biennial Committee of the 3rd Bharat Bhavan International Print biennial and was later appointed as the commissioner of the 4th Bharat Bhavan International Print biennial. He was a fellow at Kala Bhavan, Vishwabharati University, Santiniketan in the Graphics Department. He has represented the country in the print medium at a few international print expositions. He enjoys materials - all of them and loves playing with them.

    Introduction to printmaking offers you the PRINT medium of image making. It enables you to gain an insight and explore different printmaking techniques. Monoprints, relief printing and etching and lithography will be looked at.Each of these would require a strong discipline in drawing with pencil, brush & ink and pen& Ink.The medium being quite mesmerizing can occupy your attention for hours on end. Your drive will move the direction the medium can take you.The course intends to open you up to working with your hands and realizing a project through. Sketches through the course of the workshop will be much appreciated at the end of the schedule a display of the prints along with sketches and drawings will be the assessment of the workshop.Student Deliverables: Hands on Introduction to the Print Mediuma.
