• 1933 - Started by IJ nuns as St Theresa’s Convent School in Kampong Bahru in response to an urgent need to provide an education for daughters of poor workers at the Harbour, Hospital & Railway.

• 1954 - Moved to present site at Radin Mas. Built on Kampong Bahru Hill, school used to provide light to the surrounding areas & has since come to be known as the ‘Light on the Hill’.

• 1976 - Offered both primary and secondary classes

• 1992 – Became a full secondary school

• 2010 – PRIME approved; School operated at Queensway holding site

• 2012 – PRIME completed; School returned to Lower Delta Road

• 2013 – Celebrated “80 years of Love & Light”

• 2014 – Hockey recognised as Learning for Life Programme (LLP) & Education For Life (EFL) as Applied Learning Programme (ALP)

• 2016 – Conferred ‘School Distinction Award’

Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) 2017

• Please proceed to the General Office for application forms for both MOE FAS and School FAS Forms.

• If your child has already applied for MOE FAS in primary school, she will receive the approval letter via the Form Teacher.

• Submit Declaration of Mode of Transport Form by 28 Dec

• Application forms need to be submitted by 30 December 2016.


Higher Mother Tongue (HMT)• Students who are offered Higher Mother

Tongue (HMT) by MOE (based on PSLE results) will be given Form A.

• Submit Form A to the Form Teacher today or to the General Office by 28 Dec 2016.

• Higher Chinese (HCL) lessons are conducted in the school.

• Higher Malay (HML) and Higher Tamil (HTL) lessons will be conducted at other centres.


THIRD LANGUAGE

• Eligible students who have applied for 3rd Language will be given the letter if your application is successful.

• 3rd Language includes Chinese (Special Programme)[CSP], Malay (Special Programme)[MSP], Bahasa Indonesia (BI), Arabic, French, German and Spanish.

• 3rd Languages are conducted outside curriculum hours.

• To induct new Sec 1 students and help them manage the transition from primary to secondary school
