Production Costume Requirements Room 1 Pastel coloured shorts and t-shirts
Room 3 White t-shirts, black pants for boys, black leggings for girls
Room 4 Green long sleeve t-shirts and long green pants
Room 5 Costumes have already been completed
Room 6 T-shirts- can be in different shades of green, purple or pink (children have been given some fabric samples to choose colour from)
Room 10 Costumes have already been completed
Room 11 Coloured t-shirts and pants. Yellow socks (if they have them)
Parent Maths Workshops These are being held next Wednesday night 14th September. A large number of families have pre purchased the maths kits. Stage 0-‐3 = $5 Stage 4 = $10 Stage 5 = $10 Stage 6 = $5 If you have indicated that you will pay on the night we encourage you to either pay for the kits before or during the day on Wednesday or bring along the correct money in the evening as this will speed up the distribution process. The meeting will begin in the hall at 6.30pm and then groups will move into the workshops.
Digital Technology Conference for Students Congratulations to Lily Wilkings, Ricky Li, Izzy Reeve and Safa Nazari who presented workshops at a Student Conference held at Hay Park School last week. Students from 7 schools in the Mt Roskill area attended the conference and our students presented to large groups of students with confidence and enthusiasm.
Kiwi Kid Sponsorship Meeting Staff from the Variety Foundation will be at school next Thursday 15th September from 9am – 10am to talk to anyone who is interested in applying for Variety funding. Lynair, our school social worker and Abby, our school health nurse, will also attend this meeting. Please see further information in our Community Notices section at the back of this newsletter.
Year 4 Parent Meeting We will be running a 2017 Digital Classroom Information Evening on Thursday 22nd September for parents of current Year 4 students. We will meet in the school hall at 6.30pm. Childcare will be available.
Production Tickets are now available to purchase from the
school office. Adults $7 Children $5.

Art Fest ival The Art Festival opening is tonight from 6.30pm – 8pm. Come along to view the stunning artwork, browse and buy children’s books and enjoy some light refreshments. Books will also be available to purchase at the beginning and end of each day for the remainder of the week. Artworks can also be viewed during the school day tomorrow, Thursday and from 8.30 – 10.30 Friday morning for those of you who can’t make it tonight.

Netball Zones Two senior mixed teams participated in the recent zone competition at Mt Roskill Intermediate. Waikowhai A came 5th out of 10 teams and Waikowhai B won the Sportsmanship Cup. Congratulations to everyone who participated and a big thank you to Mr Ross, Mrs Jones and Mrs Price for coaching the teams.
School Cross Country Thanks to our FoTS Group who raised $311 at last Thursday’s cake stall. Thanks to all the parents who supported their children on the day and a special thanks to Ms Sands and the Year 6 Student Leaders who did an outstanding job supervising student activities.
WRITERS FROM ROOM 10 & 11 Mahe Drysdale by Ishaan Greenwood R10 Mahe Drysdale rows for New Zealand. He has been in the Olympics two times. Appearance: Mahe Drysdale is two hundred cm and he is a hundred kgs He was born in Melbourne. Mahe is thirty seven years old. Mahe has light brown hair and light brown skin. Sport: Mahe Drysdale rows for New Zealand. Rowing is a hard sport. You need lots of energy Achievements: Mahe Drysdale won an Olympic medal in Rio Olympics. All together he has won two gold and three bronze. Interesting facts: At the 2016 Summer Olympics Drysdale successfully defended his Olympic men's single sculls. Mahe Drysdale MN2M. Drysdale is a current Olympic champion. He is a champion because he has got five medals. Mark Todd By Conrad Craig R10 Mark Todd does equestrian.This means he competes on horses. He is representing New Zealand. Appearance: Mark Todd is 60 years old and he is 190 cm tall. Mark Todd has black eyes. Sport: Mark Todd does equestrian that is a sport relating to Horseback riders. Mark Todd has competed in The Olympics in 1984, 1988, 1992 ,2000, 2008 and 2016. In 1978 he was part of New Zealand first three Day eventing team to contest a world championship at Lexington, Kentucky and United States. Achievements: Mark Todd has won 2 gold and 3 bronze in the Olympics. Mark Todd won 3 bronze in London in 2012 and won 3 more bronze in Sydney in 2000. He won 1 gold in Los Angeles in 1984 and in Seoul in 1988 and 3 more bronze. Interesting facts: Mark Todd was born in Cambridge and his favourite hobbies or pastime is snow skiing and boating. I think that Mark Todd is going to get another gold Medal at the next Olympics at age 64.

POSTCARDS… Teachers send postcards to children’s homes when they notice something extra special that a child has done, either in the classroom or in the playground. Enrolment for Waikowhai Intermediate
Waikowhai Intermediate School is currently processing enrolments for the 2017 academic year. Please make sure that you have returned your Year 6 child’s enrolment by post, to their office or electronically so that they can be processed. Enrolment forms are available either from the school office or online if needed. It is important that these are completed and handed in now for the 2017 school year.
A reminder for Year 6 students that the c losing date for Out of Zone enro lment applicat ions at Mt Roskil l Intermediate School is Fr iday 16th September. The ballot date is Friday 23rd September.
