Here I have just started to make my front cover by first placing my main picture, in Photoshop.

STEP 1

The next step I took was to add the header. I used the text tool to draw a text box right across the top of the image. Once I had done this and written what I wanted to write, I increased the size to 30pt and applied no anti-aliasing

STEP 2

Text Tool Tool used to increase size of text.

Next I added my masthead. In same way as the header I wrote it but increased the font size to 72pt to make it big like real magazines have their masthead. I also added a stroke effect creating a black outline to make it stand out more.

Next I added my cover lines. Using the colour tool I made the main headings blue and some information about them black with a blue outline using the stroke tool. This is to attract and give info to my target audience. To make the cover look more active I have put some cover lines on the left and some on the right. Using the font size tool I was able to make my cover lines the size I wanted, with the main cover line “NEXT STEP” being the biggest to attract more attention.

* The next step I took was to add my Barcode, by cutting and pasting one from the internet. Then I positioned it where I wanted it.

Finally by using the ellipse tool I was able to make a flasher to surround the 73, to make it stand out more. As in my questionnaire many of the target audience seem to like the idea of competitions and gifts. I also added the date and price at the bottom to make my front cover more realistic.
