PIP HOY ARTIST STATEMENT One of Pip’s favourite quotes is from the Australian movie, The Castle (1997). “Mate, can you feel the serenity?” In an otherwise chaotic world, Pip taps into a well of inner serenity, a place where there is harmony, contentment and a lightness of being. Through a disciplined meditative discourse, an intuitive use of colour and an organic approach to technical applications, Pip transforms intelligible ideas into deeper thought-provoking compositions. Ultimately, her work ebbs and flows in a sometimes peaceful, sometimes hypnotic, manner. Pip’s use of acrylic on canvas (and occasionally on wood) is her vehicle for communicating colour. Her ongoing experimentation with mixed-media collage is her vehicle for communicating ideas. PROFESSIONAL STATEMENT Pip is an Australian artist living in Doha, Qatar. Since moving to Doha in 2010, Pip has exhibited widely in Qatar. She has taken part in a variety of symposiums and workshops allowing her to share creative experiences with a range of other talented artists from the Middle East region. In an effort to continue developing her work, Pip has participated in workshops at the highly-respected VCU-Q. Via her various memberships and appointments, Pip has also contributed to the development of the local grass roots art community in Qatar. Most notably, her role as Gallery Consultant with the Grand Hyatt Doha has allowed her to assist fellow artists in creating exhibition opportunities within the local context. Pip’s work is now held in private collections in numerous countries including: Australia, Barbados, Canada, Dubai, Ethiopia, Italy, the Netherlands, Qatar, South Africa, UK and USA. ARTIST STATEMENT

One of Pip’s favourite quotes is from the Australian movie, The Castle (1997)…. … “Mate, can you feel the serenity?”

In an otherwise chaotic world, Pip taps into a well of inner serenity, a place where there is harmony, contentment and a lightness of being.
