Metering Conference 2017

INTRODUCTION

The Metering Conference is hosted by the Power Delivery Engineering Division of Eskom. The theme for the

2017 edition of the conference is “Meter-the heart of the smart future”. The objectives of the Metering

Conference 2017 are to:

discuss the meter’s role to enable the smart future;

to share lessons learnt from the implementation of smart metering technologies in a Southern African

context;

discuss local challenges, requirements and developments in the metering industry;

create an opportunity for valuable exchange of local and international ideas and experiences;

enhance the technological knowledge base of attendees; and

engender enthusiasm and stimulate interest in the subject of metering and related disciplines.

The format of the conference will consist of exhibitions, presentations, technical papers and technical

discussions.

CONFERENCE KEY TOPICS

The primary focus of the conference will be the subject of metering technologies with an emphasis on

smart metering, communications, data management and revenue protection. Main topics covered will

Important Notes

1. There are TWO types of registration – one for NON-ESKOM delegates and one for ESKOM delegates.

• NON-ESKOM delegates are to complete and return the attached registration form.

• ESKOM delegates registration will be facilitated via Zenzele Web Portal

2. Payment options for Non-Eskom delegates are Credit Card, Electronic Transfer or Cheque. The latter must be made payable to

Eskom Holdings. Payment should be accompanied by a list of names of the relevant delegates. Credit card payments will be

processed offline based on the authority provided on the registration form. For EFT transfers, please email proof of payment to

[email protected] .

3. Tax invoices will be issued to non-Eskom delegates.

4. Eskom delegates are required to complete the registration on Zenzele Web Portal.

5. The closing date for registration is 15 December 2016. No refunds will be made for cancellations received after this date.

6. The above fees, with the exception of the Exhibitor Refreshment Package, include access to the set of conference proceedings.

The fees also include teas and lunches during the two days of the conference, as well as the cocktail event on the 8th

February

2017.

Notes for Non-Eskom Delegates

1. Please return ONE REPLY SLIP PER DELEGATE / EXHIBITOR.

2. REPLY PROMPTLY! Places at the conference will be allocated in the order of receipt of the registration slips.

3. Preliminary registration can be done by email, but registration can only be confirmed upon receipt of the required

payment.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Car Parking Ample covered parking is available at the conference venue.

Cocktail Event A complimentary cocktail event will be take place on the evening of the first day of the conference,

following the close of the proceedings. Please indicate on the registration reply slip if you will be attending the

cocktail event.

Conference Proceedings A copy of the conference proceedings will be provided to each registered conference

delegate (see Registration Fees, Note 6).

Conference Programme A provisional programme of the conference is included in this information brochure. The

final programme will be made available upon registration.

Exhibition An exhibition area will be set up in the area adjacent to the conference hall where vendors and other

interested parties may display metering and related products & technologies during the two days of the conference

– please see details in the ‘Exhibition Prospectus’ section in this brochure.

Format of Presentations The conference programme will consist of formal presentation sessions of 20 minutes for

each paper. At the end of each session there will be a 20 minute discussion period co-ordinated by the session

chairperson.

Insurance The organizers cannot be held liable for accidents to conference participants or for damage to, or loss of,

their personal property, howsoever caused. Participants should therefore make their own insurance arrangements.

Lunches Buffet/finger lunches will be provided on the days of the conference at the times indicated in the

programme.

Name Tag Each delegate will be provided with a name tag which will authorize access to the conference venue and

the serving of refreshments. Cocktail event tickets will be provided to delegates and exhibitors attending the event,

as per the responses indicated on the registration form (section C).

Overnight Accommodation Delegates and exhibitors are requested to make their own arrangements with regard to

travel and overnight accommodation. The following central reservations company in Midrand may be contacted for

Refreshments Refreshments will be served during the breaks and in the mornings before the start of the

proceedings, as indicated on the programme.

Transport Delegates and exhibitors are requested to make their own arrangements with regard to travel

Working Language The working language of the conference is English, which will be used for all printed material,

presentations and discussions.

EXHIBITION SPACE

We are pleased to offer exhibition space during the Metering Conference 2017. During the two days of the

conference, a limited amount of exhibition space, equipped with cubicles, will be available for hire. The allocated

exhibition area will be at the Eskom Conference and Exhibition Centre. The exhibition venue will be located in the

foyer of the John Maree Auditorium, and shall be open all through the conference. Exhibition stands will be set up

on the day before the conference (i.e. 7th

February 2017) and will be dismantled on the last day of the conference.

Each exhibition package will comprise:

• Partitioning on 2 sides and at the rear of each cubicle

• Carpeted floor space

• 1 x 220V AC, 30 A electrical power point (shared DB board)

• Cubicle lighting

• Company name in standard lettering (blue on white)

• Setting up and dismantling of cubicles

• One complimentary set of Exhibitor refreshment vouchers (lunches, teas and cocktail event)

• The exhibition areas will be secured overnight by Eskom security personnel

The cost of the available exhibition packages (inclusive of 14 % VAT) is as follows:

Should you require additional items (e.g. furniture, special electrical supply, televisions etc.) that are not included as

part of the standard shell scheme package, you are requested to make these arrangements yourself. You have the

option of ordering any additional items from the shell scheme company, 3D Shell, at your own cost. The contact

Extra exhibitor refreshment packages will also be available for additional exhibiting company staff who will be

manning the stand (over and above the designated exhibiting staff who will receive the complimentary refreshment

package). This package will include the refreshments, lunches and the cocktail event. The cost of this additional

package is R 741.00 inclusive of VAT. Booking of these packages is available as part of the delegate registration

process. Please fill in a registration form for each Exhibitor staff and also indicate which person will be utilizing the

Complimentary Refreshment Package.

In order to afford all exhibiting companies a fair opportunity with regards to choice of stand position, the process of

securing a cubicle will be as follows:

STEP 1 Upon receipt of this brochure; please return, by email, the attached reply slip indicating the required cubicle

size (3m x 3m or 6m x 3m).

STEP 2 Your designated representative will be contacted with an invitation to an Exhibitor’s Tea (date TBA), where

allocation of the exhibition stands randomly, will be done. If you are unable to send a representative, a stand will

automatically be allocated to you.

STEP 3 Based on your stand requirements, our Finance Department will issue an invoice.

STEP 4 Confirmation of your chosen location will be provided once the necessary payment is received.
