ADVANCED SURGICAL SERVICES
RFP Number: RFP# F2017032_AE
Date: Tuesday, February 27, 2018
CLARIFICATION # 1
The following request for clarification was received before 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 27, 2018:
RFI # QUESTION RESPONSE
1 Per Section 5, Evaluation Criteria and Process: Are we
to submit a Design Solution as part of the proposal
submission?
The intent of this requirement is for respondents to provide
example(s) of their individual firm’s understanding of the
project scope and creativity, by means of conceptual
architectural block design(s) for the planned structure,
alternate stacking diagram(s) or siting, or other means of
graphic representation.
This is not intended to be a full “design competition” by
which proposing firms will be short-listed.
A more detailed development of proposed building
massing, materials, site development, etc., will be
requested of the short-listed teams as part of the
presentation to Senior Leadership prior to selection.
2 Regarding the project site 99 Jesse Hill Jr. Drive for
the ambulatory surgical center, will Grady be
responsible for demolition and remediation
of the site’s existing structures prior to implementing
the new surgical building and parking garage designs
or will the demolition plans be part of the total
GHS will be responsible for ACM/LCM remediation of
existing facilities;
GHS is undecided at this time regarding the demolition and
site stabilization – a decision will be made and announced
at the pre-bid meeting on March 6.

project documents?
3 I wanted to ask about the requirement for a conceptual
design as part of our proposal for the CASS.
Will Grady issue any additional information for the
proposers to use as we consider this?
It seems like all we have to work with is the project
overview information on pg 4 of the RFP, but I may be
overlooking some information.
thanks
 Please see item 1 above;
A DRAFT version of the programming document will be
made available as part of the mandatory pre-bid meeting
on March 6.
4 We presume the parking deck will be a freestanding
building connected to the Ambulatory Surgery Building.
We also presume the Surgery Center will face Grady’s
entrance and the parking garage will be accessed from
Piedmont.
You cannot assume the parking structure will be separate
from the clinical building.
You cannot assume site access for either the clinical
building or the parking structure – this is part of the design
process using the programming information (to be
provided) and City of Atlanta zoning and development
codes.
5 Is attendance at the March 6th
pre-proposal conference
mandatory? I just want to make sure we’d definitely have
someone there from our team if it is. It sounds like there
will also be other opportunities in the wording of the
proposal.
 Yes.
The other opportunities are for proposing Architectural
Firms to tour the site in more detail with consultants/sub-
consultants – dates will be announced at the pre-bid
meeting on March 6.
