• A prokaryotic cell has no nucleus or membrane bound organelle
• Pro means before
• The Archeabacteria and the Eubacteria kingdoms are made up of prokaryotes.
• The DNA of prokaryotes is found in the cytoplasm
• Ribosomes are the only organelle found in both eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells
• Prokaryotic cells are simple and not specialized
Eukaryote
• A eukaryotic cell has a nucleus and membrane bound organelles
• DNA of eukaryotes is found in the nucleus and makes up chromosomes
• Both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells have a ribosome and a plasma membrane
• Eukaryotic cells are more complex and specialized than prokaryotic cells
• An easy way to remember is : Eu (you) Kary (carry) a nucleus
• Eukayotics cell are found Protista, Fungi, Animalia, and Plantae
• Viruses are non living and are not made up of cells
