User Guide: Promo Banners


1. How to add a new banner

To create banners and setup rules for their display please go to admin panel -> Promotions -> Banners.



To create a banner please click ‘Add Banner’ button.


2. General banner settings

At the ‘General’ tab you can activate the banner, select at which store view and for which customer groups it should be displayed.



You can also specify dates and time (server time is used) for banner display and priority. The priority takes effect when several banners are displayed in the same position. Banners with highest priority will be displayed at the top.

At the ‘Banner Content’ tab you can select position for banner display. - Above cart. When this position is selected, the banner is displayed on the shopping cart page, above the list of items added to cart. - Sidebar-Right. Banner is displayed on all pages in the right sidebar. - Sidebar-Left. Banner is displayed on all pages in the left sidebar. - Product Page (Top). Banner is displayed on all product pages, above product image and description. - Category Page (Top). Banner is displayed on selected category pages.




When ‘Category Page’ position is selected, you can choose on which category pages the banner should be displayed.

3.1. Category page position




When ‘Product Page’ position is selected, you can select for products from which categories the banner should be displayed. You can also specify SKUs of particular products on pages of which the banner should be displayed.

3.2. Product page position




You can show the banner on pages of products which utilize specific attributes. When you choose ‘Product page (Top)’ position for banner display, you’ll see the ‘Choose attributes of product to show banner on its page’ block at the bottom of the page. In this block you can select which attributes the products should use for the banner to be displayed. Press ‘Add New’ button to select more than one attribute value. In this particular case the banner will be displayed only for products of silver color.

3.2. Product page position




There are several types of data you can use for your banners: images, CMS blocks, HTML-text. Choose the type which meets your needs.

Once you’ve chosen image banner type, you can upload an image for the banner, specify the url, to which the banner should link and its title.

For CMS Block banner please select the appropriate block from the CMS blocks created in CMS -> Static Blocks section.

Use HTML-editor to create your banner and format it the way you need.

Go to the ‘Products’ tab and select the items which should be displayed in the list of products on the banner.

You can add a list of products to your HTML-, image- or CMS-block banner. Set ‘Show Products’ option to ‘Yes’ to enable this feature.

At the ‘Conditions’ tab you can select conditions for banner display, which should be met by the products in the cart. In this particular case there should be at least one item from category ‘Shirts’ for the banner to be displayed. You can leave the conditions tab blank when you want the banner to be displayed when there are any items in the cart or no items at all.

3. Cart conditions: shown when subtotal is less than 100

Stimulate your customers to place more orders! E.g., when subtotal in the cart is close to 100, use the banner to inform your customers about free shipping for orders over 100$.




Banner features: 1. Position: above cart 2. Type: HTML-banner with product list 3. Cart conditions: shown when there is item of McQueen brand in the cart

Offer your customers to choose a free gift from the list right above the cart once a specific item is added to the cart!

Banner features: 1. Position: right sidebar 2. Type: image 3. Cart conditions: shown when there is one item from “Apparel” category in the cart

Use promotions for specific category of products! E.g. show banner “3 for 2 on everything” when there is already an item from a certain category in the cart. It will stimulate the customer to continue shopping !




Show promo information about products right on their pages!
