Proposal for Grade 8 Music Trip
TRAVEL DATES: April 25 – 28, 2018 DESTINATION: Kelowna, BC COST: $575 (the cost will be confirmed by Feb. 1st, 2017)
A list of what is included in the cost and a general itinerary has been attached. We are in need of 3 male chaperones and 4 female chaperones one of which needs to have current First Aid training. There will also be 1 teacher (Mrs. Romphf) on the trip. Please keep in mind that the costs can be lowered with fundraising. A more accurate and detailed itinerary will be distributed closer to the travel date.
A student must be achieving a grade of at least a “B” on the 2nd term reporting period in his/her ensemble, completed all term playing tests and must be able to play all the music performed on the music tour. Students must be doing well in his/her other classes to participate in this trip, upon the discretion of the other teachers and the administration. Students are also not “excused” from homework missed and will need to make up the work in his/her own time. Keep in mind that this music trip is a privilege and only students who are trustworthy and deserving will be able to participate.
Because the cost of this trip is fairly high, I have broken down the cost into 3 instalments and may be paid by cash, cheque or online at https://sd61.schoolcashonline.com/. Please make cheques payable to Cedar Hill Middle School. • 1st payment of $100.00 per person due on or before December 1st, 2017 to begin booking process (only
$50 is refundable). • 2nd payment of $200.00 per person due January 31st, 2018 (refundable only before March 1st, 2018). • Final payment due March 1st, 2018 (after this date only $50 of the overall cost is refundable). A package

ESTIMATED TOUR COST: $575 Cdn per person (Based on 45 students and 7 chaperones)
COST INCLUDES: • Return ferry between Swartz Bay and Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal. • Private charter bus (1 x 56 seater) for transfers and touring as per the suggested itinerary. • 3 nights hotel accommodation based on quads for the students and twins for the
chaperones • 3 breakfasts and 3 dinners • workshop with a university clinician for 1 ½ hours • arrangement of 3 performances at local schools or venues • Chaperone costs (except food that isn’t with the group) • Performances as per the suggested itinerary • Entrance to Energyplex with pizza dinner. • Entrance to Kangaroo Creek Farm. • Entrance to Extreme Air Park.
NOT INCLUDED: • breakfast Wednesday • Money for 4 Lunches • items of a personal nature • Visa fee if required

Wednesday APRIL 25
VICTORIA/VANCOUVER/KELOWNA Your private charter bus will pick you up at school. *Please bring a bagged lunch. Ferry from Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen Drive from Tsawwassen to UBC. Concert band clinic with a University Clinician. Drive from Vancouver to Kelowna. On arrival in Kelowna you will transfer to your hotel to check in. Evening at Energyplex including cube 4 level indoor playground, trampoline gym, rock wall and fun ball shooting, movie theatre, craft table. Pizza dinner and pop is included.
Thursday APRIL 26
KELOWNA Breakfast at your hotel. Morning performance at an elementary school. Visit to Kangaroo Creek Farm to see the Kangaroos, Wallabies and other wildlife. Time to purchase lunch at Orchard Park Mall. Afternoon performance and clinic at the Kiwanis Festival. Dinner at a local restaurant. Evening at the H2O Aquatic Centre- indoor water fun activities including, wave pool, wave rider, waterslides and lazy river.
Friday APRIL 27
KELOWNA / RICHMOND Breakfast at your hotel. Morning performance at local elementary school. Drive from Kelowna to Hope. The drive approx. 3 hours including time to purchase lunch and for bathroom breaks. Early afternoon performance at a local elementary school in Hope. Enjoy a walk thru the Othello Tunnels which are a series of old train tunnels and bridges that cut through the solid granite walls and pass over the wild Coquihalla River Drive from Hope to Richmond. The drive is approx. 2 hours. Entrance to Extreme Air Park, Canada’s Largest Trampoline Park Pizza and pop dinner included.
Saturday APRIL 28
RICHMOND / VICTORIA Breakfast at your hotel. Morning performance at local elementary school. Drive from Abbotsford to Tsawwassen Mills Shopping Centre to enjoy some free time and to purchase lunch. Ferry from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay Drive from Swartz Bay to Cedar Hill.
