-Her clothing is red to represent her being in danger.-She has a very young face and appears to be of a young age and quite small. This highlights her vulnerability and represents her as a victim.- Her clothing is very basic- a top and a jacket. This suggests she is not your typical girly girl and instead is quite alienated from the society around her.How is the protagonist presented?

The audience first gets introduced visually to the character within a close up of her meeting the man. They have typically dressed her in red to symbolise almost as if she is a target and linked to danger. Furthermore she is presented as young and innocent through the lack of makeup and her short hair . This makes her seem a lot more vulnerable to the audience There is a voiceover from the protagonist at the start of the trailer, where she says you just dont look like the kind of guy that asks to meet girls over the internet. This connotes to the audience how naive the young teenage girl is as she arranged to meet a complete stranger who is an older man, and she knows nothing about him. This represents her innocence as she is unaware as to the danger present in society.

How does this relate to our protagonist? From being inspired from the protagonists in many different films, especially the girl in Hard Candy, we have aimed to make our protagonist quite similar. We have chosen to use a young teenage girl aged 17, size 5t3, so that she comes across as vulnerable and weak. The girl (image below) we have chosen has a young baby looking face, this will allow us to fool our audience into believing she is the victim in the narrative. Furthermore, we will portray her looking very bare faced with no make-up on and her hair tied back. By doing so, she will look susceptible and exposed to danger. Furthermore, we will also present her wearing calm and peaceful coloured clothing to portray that she is originally perceived to be a kind and innocent girl. However, towards the end of the film, we will show her in a change of clothing to show the internal transition of her character from good to evil. This clothing could potentially be red to symbolise that she is the main risk of a threatening crisis.

How is the antagonist portrayed?Similarly we like the idea in Hard Candy where the protagonist eventually becomes the antagonist.

Within the trailer, they show a clear transition from the girl being the protagonist, to her being the antagonist. For example, the lighting used on her changes and becomes dark and gloomy. Her costume has also changed to a dark vest top to make her seem older now and a lot more clever than people originally thought. It also presents her in a villainous light and makes us as an audience perceive her to be cunning and now the new source of danger. Moreover, in the first and second act of the trailer, the pace is very slow to portray that we are following the story of a young innocent girl. However, as soon as the trailer picks up and enters the third and final act, a very fast speed and quick montages are used, we see her becoming the evil character. It makes the audience feel distant from her, as she is not who they originally thought she was. How does this relate to our protagonist? Our narrative is quite similar to that of Hard Candy as our protagonist also eventually becomes our antagonist, however we will incorporate dramatic irony, as we as an audience will know before her actual family in the film that is secretly villainous. We will take note from the trailer of Hard Candy where they showed the transition of her character by changing both the lighting used on her and her clothing, to give a more sinister feel.67

These are some images of the girl we are using to play the part of our protagonist. -We made sure to pick someone for our protagonist who had quite long hair. The reason being for this is that it allows her to appear as a stereotypical girly innocent female.-We will present her as bare faced to highlight her being exposed to the threat and danger surrounding her. We might even go a step further and put pale make up on her to make her look weak.-We could show her wearing a short sleeve/strap top to communicate to the audience that she is in a weak and vulnerable situation. This will help us in fooling the audience to think that she is the victim.
