What can you do?• Keep your valuables secure, and not in easily accessible places.

Don’t use or display your phone/tablet when walking home. • Be aware of who is around you and stick to well lit streets. • If possible, travel home with others. Use Student Safe Zones.• Register your property on Immobilse. Password protect your phone

and Install/activate ‘Find my Phone’ style software (password protect that to prevent the offender switching it off).

Criminals target people using their phone whilst walking home, waiting at bus stops, or

by pick pocketing at gigs.

What can you do?• Lock doors and windows, and leave lights on when out.• Keep valuables away from the windows.• Report defective locks to your landlord/Administration. • Do you know who you are inviting back to your accommodation?• Don’t prop open security doors or allow ‘tailgating’.

Criminals actively target students living in rented accommodation, as well as in

Halls of Residence.

They’re attracted by high value items in student houses and flats

What can you do?• Purchase and use a ‘D’ Lock• Get your bike marked by the University or Police.• Always lock your bike and keep it in a well lit, public area

outside accommodation blocks and shops

Anti-Social BehaviourAnti-Social Behaviour,

particularly noise, can have an adverse effect on local

residents and other members of the community

What can you do?• Be considerate when returning home from a night out• Avoid littering, shouting or making excessive noise• Be an ambassador for the University within the

community
