Mathematics Pacing Guide: Holt
Grade 6
Note: It is the pacing authors’ opinion that of the 29 Common Core State Standards for Grade 6 mathematics, there are four standards which lack depth in the Holt textbook:
6.NS.7c in the Number System domain is only partially addressed as it merely appears in the Skills Bank activity on page 762 and does not provide students with enough opportunities to explore absolute value.
6.NS.8 in the Number System domain comprehensively addresses graphing points in all four quadrants of the coordinate plane save for providing students with the opportunity to use absolute value to find distances between points.
6.G.3 in the Geometry domain comprehensively addresses the standard save for providing students with the opportunity to use coordinates to find the length of a side joining points with the same first coordinate or the same second coordinate.
6.SP.1 in the Statistics and Probability domain is only partially addressed as it simply appears in Hands-On Lab 6-5 and does not provide students with enough opportunities to exam the proper development of statistical questions.
Note: It is the pacing authors’ opinion that of the 29 Common Core State Standards for Grade 6 mathematics, only standard 6.NS.7d in the Number System domain is not addressed in the Holt textbook.
