PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SECTOR
Checklist
The purpose of this document is to support public transportation sector companies for management of occupational health and safety (OHS) in their work environment. It seeks to guarantee that operations can resume or continue under the safest and healthiest possible conditions in the context of COVID-19.
The employer has informed the workers not to report to work in case of symptoms.

The dining room is cleaned before and after each use and disinfected every day (e.g. tables, refrigerator door handle, chair backs, microwaves).

The frequently touched surfaces (e.g. doorknobs, faucets, toilets, telephones, computer accessories) are cleaned every shift.

Water and soap or a 60% hydroalcoholic solution are available for hand washing.

Specific Measures

Air recirculation is avoided and opening of windows is encouraged in the workplaces or vehicles, whenever possible.

The number of drivers in the cab is limited to only one, if possible. Otherwise, the smallest and most stable teams possible are to be preferred, while maintaining the same position for the entire shift and avoiding sharing objects.

On buses, except for buses used for adapted transit/paratransit, when the physical barrier is not installed atthedriverstation,theaccesstothefirstbenchesisprohibitedandthepassengersenterbythebackdoor, whenever possible.

Posters have been installed in the vehicle and at the appropriate access points with all the information useful to the passenger, particularly on wearing a face covering and a reminder of the hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette rules.

Passengers who exhibit symptoms are informed to postpone their transportation or use another means of mobility than public transit.

The appropriate personal protective equipment (respiratory protection, protective glasses or visor) is supplied and worn when it is impossible to maintain 2-metre distancing or to deploy a physical barrier.

The workers are trained in the use, removal and, if applicable, maintenance of the personal protective equipment.

Contactless transactions at the terminals and contactless payment are preferred as payment modes to prevent the passengers from touching the terminals. If passengers pay with cash, the ticket sellers and drivers must disinfect their hands before touching their face or other surfaces, using a no-rinse cleanser (60% hydroalcoholic solution).

The frequently touched surfaces are cleaned and disinfected at least every shift (e.g. transit pass recharging terminals, work stations, telephones, computer accessories, pencils).

The driver’s station is cleaned and disinfected every shift or during a change of driver (e.g. steering wheel, interior and exterior door handles, interior mirror, seat belt, doors, seat, barrier).

The frequently touched surfaces in the vehicles are cleaned and disinfected every day (e.g. seat belts, straps, handrails, buzzers, doors, seats, sanitary facilities).

The tools and work equipment are cleaned and disinfected after every shift or when they must be shared (e.g. tablets, pencils, communications devices, cell phone).

The suppliers, subcontractors, partners and customers have been informed of the measures implemented to control the risks associated with COVID-19 and made aware of the importance of complying with these measures.

The adapted transit/paratransit driver wears respiratory protection and protective eyewear during interactions with the users.

The tracking tools allowing traceability are documented adequately.
