Protecting our environment insures the health offuture generations and is one of today's mostimportant issues.

A primary focus is the purification of municipal andindustrial wastewater. This need was recognizedearly in the 20th century in highly populated

Wastewater is pumped to a sewagetreatment plant for cleaning. After thetreatment process is completed, theclean water is put back into the eco-logical system.

Treated, dewatered sludge is depositedin landfills, sent to drying or incinera-tion plants, or used as fertilizer. Waterand sludge quality requirements dependon local and federal regulations.

These regulations are becoming morestringent and are standardized even onan international level.

industrialized countries with the first steps of sewagetreatment. In the last few decades, wastewatertreatment has developed into a major industry withcomplex chemical, biological and mechanicalprocesses.

To meet the demands for neutralizationand filtration, reduction of organicwastes and heavy metals, and theelimination of nitrates and phosphates, sewage treatment plants must adapt toincreasingly rigid standards.

seepex progressive cavity pumps andmacerators are used in almost all processsteps of the sewage treatment plant.

BN range seepex pumps are ideal fortransporting sewage and sludges ofup to 8 % ds as well as dosing limeslurry and flocculants.Capacity: 0,05 - 500 m3/h(2.2 - 2,200 usgpm),pressure: up to 48 bar (700 psi)

BTQ range seepex pumps are thesame length as the equivalent BNrange pump but with a square suctionhopper that integrates a shortfeed screw for increased volumetricefficiency. These pumps are usedfor pumping thickened sludges upto 12 % ds, scum and grease fromgrease traps.Capacity: 0,1 - 100 m3/h(0.44 - 880 usgpm),pressure: up to 24 bar (360 psi)

BT range seepex pumps have arectangular feed hopper with acompression zone and feed screw. The hopper length can be matched tothe discharge of the feeding device. They are used for pumping thickenedsludges up to 18 % ds.Capacity: 0,1 - 200 m3/h(0.44 - 880 usgpm),pressure: up to 48 bar (700 psi)

BTE range seepex pumps have aenlarged rectangular feed hopperwith removable compression zoneand an auger with enlarged diameterand pitch length. The hopper lengthcan be matched to the discharge ofthe dewatering device. These pumpsare used for dewatered sludges upto 32 % ds.Capacity: 0,3 - 50 m3/h(1.32 - 220 usgpm),pressure: up to 48 bar (700 psi)

BTI range seepex pumps have arectangular feed hopper withremovable compression zone forservice work and an integrated bridgebreaker/mixing device. The hopperlength can be matched to thedischarge of the dewatering device. They are used for pumping andconditioning of dewatered sludgeswith quick lime up to 45 % ds.Capacity: 0,3 - 50 m3/h(1.3 - 220 usgpm),pressure: up to 48 bar (700 psi)

MD range seepex pumps are used forpumping and dosing precipitants andflocculants. Capacity: 0,1 - 1000 l/h(0.00044 - 4.4 usgpm),pressure: up to 24 bar (360 psi)

M Group seepex macerators reducesolids and fibers in raw sewage andsludge into small particles capable ofbeing pumped. They are available in ainline design with integrated separatorfor collecting heavy solids and in anuniversal design for universal mounting.Capacity: up to 150 m3/h (660 usgpm)

During mechanical sewage treatment, suspendedsolids settle to the bottom of the clarifier as primarysludge. This sludge can be thickened mechanicallyor by gravity and mixed with biologically treatedsludge. Sludge can also be digested until it is

odorless and chemically and physically stabilized.During anaerobic digestion, organic compoundsbecome non-organic at a fixed temperature ofapproximately 35 C. Digestion enhances the sludgedewatering/treatment process.
