HILLIARD GATES SPORTS CENTERNamed in honor of longtime area sportscaster, Hilliard Gates, the 68,106 square foot tri-level facility is located on the northeast end of the Purdue Fort Wayne campus. The Hilliard Gates Sports center is home of the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodon athletic program. The facility features a multipurpose gymnasium with a 2,300-seat arena and three basketball/volleyball courts, a 1/9-mile indoor tartan-rubber track, racquetball/handball courts and a fitness center. In 2010, a renovation project was completed on the locker rooms for the basketball and volleyball programs.

The fitness center includes state-of-the-art Life Fitness bikes, treadmills, elliptical EFX Cross Trainers, stairmasters, rowing machines and Airodyne bikes.

LUTHERAN HEALTH FIELDHOUSEThe Athletic Center Fieldhouse is a multipurpose sport and fitness facility attached to the Gates Sports Center complex. The 90,000 square foot facility has a six lane, 200 meter, oval track with a Mondo Super X surface; the same surface on the track at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The fieldhouse is equipped with a Lynx Timing System and digital scoreboard. Within the track, there are three recreational sized multipurpose courts. Also, there is a retractable bleacher seating for 1,000.

STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING ROOMAnother facility highlight is the strength and conditioning room, which features Nautilus and training equipment along with free-weights. The weight room received an upgrade during the summer of 2012, with the addition of a high-quality rubber-based floor system, including six weight stations. The facility also includes two other smaller workout areas adjacent to the strength and conditioning room.

MASTODON FIELDMastodon Field is the home of the Purdue Fort Wayne baseball team. Mastodon Field has undergone a number of renovations in the last several years, including a new brick backstop, seating for over 350 and grandstand seating for 200, new hitting cages and a new wooden outfield fence. Major field upgrades include a brand new pitcher’s mound and a laser-graded infield with a new playing surface. The dimensions of Mastodon Field are 335 FT down the lines, 380 FT in the power alleys and 405 to dead center. Mastodon Field plays host to not only NCAA baseball action but also some of the finest club and travel teams in the tri-state area.

PURDUE FORT WAYNE SOFTBALL FIELDThe Purdue Fort Wayne Softball Field is the home of the Mastodons’ softball program. The field boasts a symmetrical dimension of 200 FT in all fields including the power alleys. Recent upgrades to the facility include graphic windscreens, hitting cages, Daktronics scoreboard, and grandstand seating for fans directly behind home plate. In 2017, a new inning-by-inning scoreboard was installed.

HEFNER SOCCER COMPLEXThe Hefner Soccer Complex is comprised of 19 full-sized soccer fields. A community gem, the complex plays host to numerous state, local and high school soccer tournaments. It is also the home of the Purdue Fort Wayne Smen’s and women’s soccer programs.

Purdue Fort Wayne plays its home games on Hefner Stadium Field 1 with grandstand seating and television quality lighting.

The entire complex is located across the St. Joe River from the main campus and is accessible via California Road near the Holiday Inn.

ALLEN COUNTY WAR MEMORIAL COLISEUMThe Allen County War Memorial Coliseum complex is the tri-state area’s leading sports, entertainment and event venue, serving Northeast Indiana, Northwest Ohio and Southern Michigan.

Owned and operated by the Commissioners of Allen County, the Memorial Coliseum stands as a living memorial to the nation’s war veterans. Originally opened in 1952, expanded in 1992 and renovated in 2002, the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum is one of the busiest and most unique venues of its size in the country. The Coliseum is home to Purdue Fort Wayne men’s basketball team. The Mastodons play a number of women’s basketball games at the Coliseum as well.

The facility also annually hosts some of the hottest touring musical acts and family shows in the world. The Memorial Coliseum Expo Center is the largest multi-purpose exhibition hall in the tri-state area, hosting numerous annual tradeshows, meetings, banquets, receptions and sales. The Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons were selcted to host the 2020 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Regional at the Memorial Coliseum.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

LOCKER AND TRAINING ROOM ASSIGNMENTSVisiting teams will be assigned a locker room along with a host for their competition against Purdue Fort Wayne. Your host will show you the location of the locker room and training rooms, which are on the basementof the Hilliard Sports Center. Your host will have a key to your locker room and will sit behind your bench. Please let your host know if you need anything in the duration of your visit.

Locker rooms will be stocked with water, cups and ice; towels will be provided at the start of warm-ups. If you need additional items, please contact the sports medicine training room, at least 48 hours prior to your competition.

Each team will use the athletic training room for taping and other pregame therapy. Taping supplies or tables will be available in the locker rooms upon request and if resources are available. The athletic training staff encourages visiting teams to bring their own taping supplies. If an opposing team is not traveling with an athletic trainer, please contact the athletic training room, 260-481-6656, to make arrangements for taping and other therapy assistance.

PRACTICE TIMESPractice times are available for visiting teams as space permits. Please submit practice time requests to the hosting team’s coaching staff or Ashley Malone (ashley.malone@pfw.edu) at your earliest convenience to get better times and options.

VISITING TEAM PASS LIST Visiting teams* must submit their pass list at least 48 hours prior to competition start time. A full name (First and Last name) must be printed clearly under the athlete’s name. The guest will sign to the right of their name on the pass list. Photo identification is REQUIRED in order to receive a ticket. Each team will be allowed the allotment stipulated by the Horizon League or in the game contract. This applies to games played at the Gates Sports Center and the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.

NOTE: During men’s volleyball competitions, the visiting teams do not have a pass list.

PARKINGVisiting teams using charter buses are asked to park in Lot 12 or 13 (please refer to campus map on page 4). Players may be dropped off and picked up in front (door 12) of the Hilliard Gates Sports Center or from the round-a-bout at the Rhinehart Music Center (refer to page 4).

Visiting teams are asked to park near Docks 1 and 2 located just off Parnell Ave for games that are played at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
