    Hi Everybody!

Well, second time’s a charm! We feel like

we restarted after Hurricane Irma to help

our students get in the groove, with

learning rituals and routines. But, judging

from these photos of our 1st graders’

Reading Rally, we are ready to learn!

    As Quarter 1 and parent/teacher

conferences come to a close, we look

forward to several smooth weeks of strong

teaching and learning. Thank you, as

always, to our parents, PTO, and

Community Partners for your support of

    our educational community.

A HUGE thank you to Ponte Vedra Public

Education Foundation for funding the mini-grant

requests for our teachers. Below is Ms. Van Housen

celebrating their grant award with Mr. Morris and

Mrs. Grzybek, 3rd grade teachers who are starting a new STEM/Robotics Club.

  • PVPV/Rawlings students and families donated over $1,700 to hurricane victims during the

Hearts for Houston change drive. We are SO proud of our students’ generosity and kindness.

Of course, a week later, we had our own Hurricane Irma, so we ended up giving

50% to Houston and 50% to the Jacksonville United Way Relief Fund,

which doubled our donation! During Irma, Ms. Van Housen and

Maintenance Manager Steve Sampson helped at the shelter at Timberlin

Creek Elementary. Here is Mr. Sampson celebrating his birthday with

    the shelter crew!

  • Any hurricane-damaged textbooks and library books can be reported to your child’s librarians no later

than December 20th. Students will not need to pay fees for any

    damaged books.

    General Reminders

    Extended Day News

PARENTS: It is imperative that you call or email the Extended Day Coordinator when your child will not be attending after-

school care. Lynda Wing, Coordinator, 904-547-3830, [email protected]

Gifted Screening for all 2nd grade students is scheduled for Tuesday, October 10th. All students will take the Otis-Lennon School Ability Test (OLSAT) in the morning. Those who score

above a certain point will be individually evaluated by the school psychologist. There is really nothing to prepare for this

screening, just come to school fed and well-rested!

Extended Day is off and running full speed ahead this year! We are almost filled to capacity. If you are considering after-school care for your child,

please secure your spot soon. The addition of our homework lab this year is working out nicely. Thank you to all who helped us make this happen! For

questions or further information, please contact Lynda Wing.
