Scope This document contains instructions for a new installation of Q-Stress 4.6 and an upgrade of an existing system to version 4.6. These instructions assume that Microsoft Windows has already been installed on your Stress computer. Make sure the monitor display settings are set to 1024 x 768 resolution and 32-bit color. Read all instructions before beginning the installation or upgrade process. Follow the instructions in the order given. Software Installation Important: This installation must be performed with an Administrator account.

1. Insert the Q-Stress 4.6 Installation Disk into the DVD drive. The installation wizard starts automatically. If the Auto Play message appears, select run Setup.exe. If prompted, click Continue in the User Account Control dialog box.

2. Click Next > at the welcome screen.

3. Select the radio button to accept the license agreement and click Next >.

4. Change the installation location if desired using the Change… button and click Next >.

5. Click Install. The installation wizard begins installing the Stress software.

6. Click Yes to install Microsoft KB2640696 hot fix, if prompted, and then Close when Installation is complete.

7. Click Next to install the CP210x USB to UART Bridge Driver Installer, if prompted, and accept the license agreement. Click Finish when done.

8. Install the TCR 1000 printer driver. If prompted, click Install this driver software anyway:

9. Click Finish to complete the installation.

10. Restart the computer.

Software Upgrade Follow these directions to upgrade a Stress version 4.x system to version 4.6. Important: This installation must be performed with an Administrator account. Important: Backup the Stress database before starting the upgrade process. See the User Guide/Service Manual for directions. Verify the software version To find the software version:

1. Start Q-Stress. 2. From the Help menu, select About Q-Stress. Write down the Stress version. 3. Exit the application.

If you are running on a version prior to 4.0, contact Mortara technical support before continuing. Remove existing software Before installing the new software, you must remove the old version:

1. Open the Control Panel and then open Add or Remove Programs 2. Highlight the Stress entry (or entries) and click the button to remove it. 3. You are prompted to remove the program from your computer. Click Yes. 4. At the prompt confirming the successful uninstall of Stress, click Finish. 5. Restart the computer if prompted.

Install version 4.6 software Follow the Software Installation procedure beginning on page 3.

Configure Operating System Parameters After installing the Stress software, configure the operating system parameters to be specific for your location. Set screen display properties The Stress software requires the monitor to be set to a resolution of 1024x768 at 32bit color. To set the resolution in Windows 7:

1. From the Control Panel, select Appearance and Personalization, then select Display and select Change Display Settings.

2. Set the Screen resolution to 1024 by 768 pixels.

3. Click Apply, then OK after accepting the change in resolution. Enable ClearType For more accurate viewing of ECG traces and better clarity of text, use ClearType.

1. From the Control Panel, select Appearance and Personalization, then select Display. 2. Select Adjust ClearType text. 3. Select the Turn on ClearType check box.

Set the operating system language and units Note: These languages are supported by Q-Stress:

• English (US) • Chinese (PRC) • French (France) • Spanish (Mexico)

To configure the system for use with a non-U. S. English language:

1. Go to Control Panel and select Clock, Language, and Region. 2. Select Regional and Language Options. 3. In the Formats tab, select the desired language in the Current format field:

• Chinese (PRC) • English (United States) • French (France) • Spanish (Mexico)

4. Select the Location tab and in the Current location drop-down list, select the desired country.

5. Select the Keyboard and Languages tab and then the Change keyboards… option.

6. Select the General tab and from the Default input language field, select the desired language from the drop-down list.

7. Click OK.

8. If your language’s keyboard is absent, add it: a. Click Add. b. In the Add Input Language window, click the list expansion control next to the language. c. Click the list expansion control next to Keyboard. d. Select US as the keyboard type, like this: e. Click Apply and then OK to confirm the selection and close the window.

9. In the Choose a display language field, select the desired language. Note: Only available with Windows 7 Enterprise or Ultimate. Note: The languages in Bold have been added to these instructions for clarity. They will not be in the actual dialog box.

10. Choose the Administrative tab and then select the Change system locale… option.

11. In the Current system locale drop down list, choose the desired language and click OK. 12. Click Restart now.

13. The system restarts with the newly configured system language.

Set time/date/time zone Open the date and time control panel to set the time, date, and time zone for your location. Set the default printer Note: If your system has a laser printer, see the installation instructions supplied with the printer to install the printer driver. The Stress Installation wizard installed the driver for the optional TCR-1000 chart recorder. To allow the Stress application to print to the laser printer or chart recorder dedicated to it:

1. Open the printers control panel. 2. Right click on the printer name. 3. Select Set as Default Printer from the contextual menu. 4. Close the control panel.

Configure the email account You must configure the system’s email settings to be able to email reports from the Stress application. See your network or email administrator to configure an email account for the system. Important: Configure the email program to allow out-going mail only. Rename the computer If you are connecting more than one Stress system to the network, you must rename the Stress computer from the factory default so that the name is unique. Or, you may need to rename the computer to fit naming conventions for your site. To rename the computer:

1. Open the System control panel, and go to System and Security->System. Click Change Settings. 2. Click Change. 3. Type the new computer name in the Computer Name field. 4. Accept changes in the open dialog boxes and to restart the computer.

Add the computer to a network domain Your system can join a network domain. See your network administrator for domain information and instructions. The user account with which you log on to the system must be a member of the Local Administrators group on the Stress system. If the Stress system includes the Network option, continue to Network option configuration. Otherwise, skip to

Network option configuration If you have the Stress Network option, you can connect the system to the network using the following instructions. Note: Contact your network administrator to ensure that your network settings are consistent with your facility’s current network parameters.

Caution. Degraded system performance. Networks that are unstable and do not provide consistent availability may adversely affect the performance of the system. If your network cannot maintain a consistent connection with the computer, it is recommended that you disconnect your system from the network.

1. Shut down the computer. 2. Using a network patch cable, connect the network port on the back of the computer to the network port in

the wall or on the hub. (See your network administrator for information about where to plug in your network cables).

3. Power on the computer. 4. Your Stress system is now on the network. The network name is qstress (if you did not rename it) and it

is in the workgroup STRESS CONNECT. If you have more than one Stress system on your network, you will need to rename the computer.

Configure Adobe Reader Adobe Reader is installed by the Stress installation wizard for displaying and printing final reports. Reader needs to be configured for use by the Stress application.

1. Launch Acrobat Reader from the short-cut on the desktop. 2. If prompted, accept the Reader license agreement. 3. If prompted, select the default language for Reader. 4. From the Edit menu, select Preferences. 5. Select Updater from the Categories list. 6. Select Do not download or install updates automatically. 7. If a User Account Control dialog box appears, accept the message. 8. From the File menu, select Print. (If Print is not available, complete the next 2 steps the first time you

open a file in Reader.) 9. In the Print dialog box:

• Set Page Scaling to None. • Check Auto-Rotate and Center. • Check Choose Paper Source by PDF page size.

10. Click OK to close the Print dialog box. 11. Exit Adobe Reader.

Continue to Stress Application Configuration on page 14. Enable spread spectrum in BIOS Note: This section applies only to 3.4GHz computers shipped with earlier versions of the software that are being upgraded to Q-Stress 4.6. To comply with electromagnetic specifications, the computer’s motherboard clock timing must be set to Spread Spectrum through the BIOS. To enable spread spectrum:

1. Reboot the computer. 2. Immediately press Delete. 3. Select BIOS. 4. Select the Advance tab. 5. Scroll to Processor & Clock Option and select it. 6. Scroll to Spread Spectrum and enable it.

Stress Application Configuration Start the Stress software by double clicking the Stress icon on the desktop. On the initial running of the application, the desktop background changes and icon name changes to the name of the software. Important: If you are upgrading to 4.6 you must perform these steps to reset your default final report and procedure:

1. Select Final Report... from the Setup menu. 2. In the Final Report window, select your default report as the Current Report. 3. Select the checkbox Set as Default. 4. Close the Final Report window. 5. Select Procedure... from the Setup menu. 6. In the Procedure Setup window, select your default procedure as the Current Procedure. 7. Select the checkbox Set as Default. 8. Close the Procedure Setup window.

If the Stress system includes a blood pressure monitor, configure the application to use the device. See the System Setup chapter in the Stress User Guide and Service Manual for specific instructions to configure the COM port for the device. If you purchased a Stress application option and received a HASP option installation kit, install it after running the Stress software. Refer to the instructions included with the kit for specific directions. After finishing the device and option configuration, restart the application. The system is now ready for use.

Troubleshooting a Failed Installation If during the installation you see a dialog box noting that the installation failed, it may be caused by an existing SQL client installation. First, confirm that an existing SQL client is the cause of the failure:

1. Open the Event Viewer administrative tool. 2. View the Application log. 3. In the log, you should see this entry:

An installation package for the product Microsoft SQL Native Client cannot be found. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation package 'Sqlncli.msi'.

If the entry is present:

1. Open the Add or Remove Programs control panel. 2. Uninstall the SQL Native Client. 3. Run the Stress installation again.

If the SQL client is not installed, or running the installation again is unsuccessful, contact Technical Support.

Restoring the HP rp5800 PC The following procedure can be followed to restore the HP rp5800 PC to its default factory state (with Windows 7 and the Q-Stress software installed). You will need the Q-Stress Restore CD part #11090-101-50. CloneZilla is used to restore the Q-Stress system. Note: In general, you will be accepting all of the default values. Steps that require you to choose a different value are highlighted in the left margin. Note: This process will erase all information stored on the PC, including any patient data and system settings. Make sure to back-up your data before starting this procedure.

1. Restart the computer and make sure the Q-Stress Restore CD is in the drive. 2. When the system loads, select System Restore (Default settings, VGA 1024x768) or Clonezilla

live (Default settings, VGA 1024x768). 3. [Choose Language] en_US.UTF-8 English

5. [Start Clonezilla] Start Clonezilla

6. Select device-image

7. Select local_dev.

8. When prompted to insert a USB device, press Enter to continue… (You do not need to insert anything.)

9. When prompted to mount a device, select sda5 19.5G vfat Q-RESTORE

10. Select / Top_directory_in_the_local_device

11. Press “Enter” to continue at the disk space usage report. 12. Select "Beginner".

14. Choose the Q-Stress image listed. 15. Select the target partition sda2.

16. Press Enter to continue… 17. Respond Y when prompted Are you sure you want to continue? (y/n) 18. Respond Y when prompted Let me ask you again. Are you sure you want to continue? (y/n) 19. Clonezilla will begin to restore the computer. This will take approximately 15-20 minutes. 20. When it completes, press Enter to continue… 21. Select poweroff

22. When the computer shuts down, eject the CD. 23. Turn it back on and reconfigure your system as desired (referencing the section above).

Note: If prompted by the OS, activate Windows using the activation code printed on the PC.
