detention. Ty (Arran Sharma) and Freddie (Jonathan Lupton) find a unconventional, yet hilarious way to

pass the time. With Western-style showdown and light saber fights, who knew detention could be such a battle?4. Cast of CharactersTy Wilsonis funny; hes a joker. Hes at the top of the social hierarchy, the school is kingdom. However,

he is slightly full of himself and over-confident. He can be seen as annoying at times by his peers.

Students such as shy geek, Freddie are frightened that they may be poked fun at by him, although he

isnt very clever and Freddie uses this to his advantage to outsmart him. He has short, dark hair and is

    around 6ft tall.

Freddie McKnight is a nice guy, someone that gets along with everybody. As he is so dedicated to his

studies, he is often labelled a geek. Throughout his time at school he has been the subject of some

name calling, most of which was good natured, from Ty and his friends. Others see him as friendly,

approachable and easy to talk to. He is helpful and has a witty nature. Not too serious about himself.

Charlotte Char Jackson is pretty, and popular, but she doesnt take too kindly to fools. Not one to buy

into the social plights of high school, Char is friends with anyone and everyone. For a long time shes had

a crush on Freddie; but she hasnt had the courage to act on it.

Mr Shadeppi is a really boring teacher, one who is liked by the students at the school. He is known for

his lectures which tend to go on for hours longer than necessary. Many students love to disobey him and

make a routine of getting on his nerves. He is often the detention teacher so he knows the students whoare in there regularly.4. LocationsSchool Classroom regular sized rooms. Decorated with posters, detailing grammatical techniques; also

on the walls, is lots of work completed by students. The room is colourful and clearly well-used. At the

front of the room there is a whiteboard or blackboard where teachers can write the length of the detention.

There are four rows of tables spaced evenly across the room. Above the door is a clock which ticks

    loudly.

School Corridor is very bare, nothing in the corridor at all apart from lockers on the right side, close to a

corner. Corridor should be at least 2.5 metres wide.Staffroom needs to have notices lining the wall; there is a sink in the corner with many different mugs

around it where teachers make hot beverages. Also needs to have a photocopying facility.5. Film Treatment

    Quiet RiotSCENE ONE

The film begins with Ty and Freddie both in detention; they are in the process of being lectured by Mr

Shadeppi. A shot of the whiteboard and the clock one after the other indicates that the detention hadduration of one hour and that there is just over five minutes left until its over. They sit in a classroom of

normal size which holds rows of tables, the teacher stands at the front, looking sternly at both of the boys.

The scene goes between each of their faces, by the looks of sheer boredom; you can tell that neither of

the boys wants to be there.

Shortly after Mr Shadeppi leaves the room with a stern shake of his head. The boys who have endured

55 minutes of their detention are still extremely bored. Mere seconds after Mr Shadeppi has left the

classroom, Ty screws up the piece of paper upon which he had been doodling on the whole time Mr

Shadeppi was lecturing them. He then throws the paper at Freddie, hitting him directly in the back of the

head. Freddie snaps his head around immediately, wearing a look of over exaggerated anger and shock.

Both of them narrow their eyes in anger; the tension in the room noticeably rises. They get off of their

seats and walk up to the front. They stand facing each other, glaring. Their stances are similar to that of astand-off in a western film. Both of them draw for their guns, but Freddie is quicker, shooting Ty who falls

to the ground, dying.Freddie blows the smoke off of his gun triumphantly; he turns around to leave the room. But behind him,

unbeknownst to Freddie, Ty rises from the ground and pulls out a light sabre. The two then engage in a

light sabre fight which alludes to the famous Star Wars films. After a while, it is clear that, of the two, Ty is

stronger, and Freddie realises this very quickly. So, knowing his opponents weakness is his dire lack of

intelligence, he takes his chances and point over Tys shoulder despite the fact that there is nothing there.

As expected, Ty falls for this, turning around and searching for whatever Freddie pointed at. Freddie then

takes his chance, and flees the classroom while his opponents back is turned. A few seconds later after

finally figuring out that there is nothing behind him and that Freddie is no longer there, Ty also runs from

the classroom.SCENE TWOMr Shadeppi is in the staffroom, making a cup of tea. He gets water from the kettle and pours it into his

mug. There is a stark contrast between the chaos that the boys are creating outside and the calm of the

staffroom.SCENE THREEHiding behind some lockers, Freddie is shaking with nerves and Ty hunts for him through the corridors.

Ty walks down, right to the edge of the lockers, before turning around again, and Freddie isjustout of his

line of vision. Once Ty has turned around and begins walking back down the corridor away from Freddie,

in the distance we see Freddie do a forward roll and then run down the perpendicular corridor. Just after

Freddie got away, Ty realises where he had been hiding.

SCENE FOURFreddie then continues running down the hallway, hoping to get away from Ty. But, out of nowhere, Ty

appears from around a corner, he visibly startles Freddie who halts, and his eyes widen. Ty reaches

behind his own back to his imaginary quiver and pulls out an arrow. With his bow, he shoots it directly at

Freddie. However, Freddie moves backwards, going down into a Matrix-style lean. All is going well for

him, he dodged the arrow, but at the last minute, he leans back just a bit too far and falls spectacularly to

the ground. Ty, obviously very proud of himself, turns around, ready to walk away and celebrate his

    victory.

When he falls to the ground, his glasses fly off of his face, in his disorientated state, he fumbles around

on the floor, blindly searching for his glasses. As he does so, his hand comes into contact with a shoe.

We then get to see who it is, a beautiful girl - Char - clearly a popular girl at within the school and from the

combination of the music, high key lighting and shot we can see that Freddie has a crush on her. She

lovingly helps him off the ground and places his glasses back on his face, but as soon as her sights set

on Freddie, all of her prior softness goes out of the window and she narrows her eyes at Ty before

shoving Freddie out of the way. She reaches into her pocket and pulls out a grenade and hurls it Ty's

direction. He jumps out of the way as the grenade nears him. Char dusts off her hands and grabs Freddie

and the two make a dash for the classroom.SCENE FIVE

Then we see Ty return to the classroom, smoothing down his clothes, and sitting back in the same

position that he had been five minutes beforehand, continuing to doodle like nothing happened.

The teacher is then seen leaving the staffroom. This is when the element of time becomes much more

important. Freddie and Char realise that they have to get back quickly before the teacher returns. They

come to a halt outside the classroom. Holding hands, Char thinks this is the right moments and puckers

her lips, moving towards Freddie. He has an internal struggle for a few seconds, trying to pluck up the

courage to kiss her and he moves towards her also. But at the last minute he lose his courage and kisses

her on the forehead. Char clearly doesn't expect this and looks completely dejected. Freddie walks back

into the classroom and leaves her standing alone by the door. Char looks sad before running away.

Once back inside the classroom, Freddie too straightens his clothes but from his face it obvious he

realises what mistake he made by not taking the chance and kissing Char. Only seconds later, the

teacher re-enters the classroom and dismisses the two boys. They get to the door, and bump fists as they

leave, showing that the whole ordeal was just a bit of fun and that they're actually friends.
