WHAT IS THE EXTERNAL GIS SERVICE?

QUU are responsible for changes to the water and sewer services of over 1.4 million

customers. QUU engages contractors to facilitate the continual creation and

maintenance of its assets and infrastructure.

The External GIS is in integrated web mapping application that enables users to

interact with the map and access current information about QUU assets.

Throughout this user guide, this icon indicates sample workflows

demonstrating key tasks that can be completed using the

External GIS.

A QUICK TOUR OF THE EXTERNAL GIS

The following diagram shows where the following key components of the External GIS

web Portal user interface (UI) are located. These terms are used throughout this

wheel, +/- buttons on the keyboard, double click to zoom in

• To zoom to a specific location hold Shift and click and drag a box on the

map to zoom in , Shift+Ctrl+click/drag a box on the map to zoom out

• Clicking features on the Map displays a pop up window with the feature

attribute data. Use the Next Feature arrow to scroll through features that are

overlaid.

The scale bar represents the scale of the map. Due to the map projection of the

External GIS, all area and linear measurements should be considered approximate.

The search bar enable users to search for an asset or location using an Asset ID,

Address or Street name.

The map function tools/widgets allow users to interact with the map, enabling users

to turn layers on and off, make measurements on the map, change the base map

and print a pdf map.
