he Indus Valley Civilization, one of the world's first and oldest civilizations, was located in Rajasthan.
The Rajputs, Charans, Yadavs, Jats, Meenas, Bhils, Gurjars, Bishnois and are the tribes who made a great contribution in building the state of Rajasthan.
The Rajput kings following a rapid defeat, concluded treaties with the British in the early 19th century, accepting British sovereignty in return for local autonomy.

PALACE ON WHEELS The Palace on Wheels is a
luxury tourist train. It was launched by the Indian Railways to promote tourism in Rajasthan, and has been highly popular since its launch.
The train departs from New Delhi and during its eight day journey, travels around Rajasthan with stops in Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Sawai Madhopur, Chittaurgarh, Udaipur, Bharatpur, and Agra.

The Rajasthanis are devoutly religious and friendly.
They are known for their spirited dances and musical renderings, their extremely colorful attire and the royal culture.
Ghoomar , kunjar, bhawai, gorbandh are simple spectacular art forms of Rajasthan.
Products, intricately cut marble jharokas, the ivory and lac jewellery, the carved sandalwood idols and the multi hued textiles are always in demand in national and international market due to their simple charms and low pricing.

Shortage of water and fresh green vegetables has effected the formula of cooking in Rajasthan.
The meals are made with the use of milk, buttermilk and clarified butter or minimum water instead of water used in most of the Indian cooking.

Suaraj is the only urban centre in Rajasthan.

Rajasthan started experiencing industrial development between 1950 and 1960.
The main industries of Rajasthan include textile, rugs, woolen goods, vegetable oil and dyes. Heavy industries consist of copper and zinc smelting and the manufacture of railway rolling stock.
The other industries related to Private Sector include steel, cement, ceramics and glass wares, electronic, leather and footwear, stone and other chemical industries.
