About Ramingining
Ramingining is located in Central Arnhem Land, on the edge of the Arafura Wetlands, west of Nhulunbuy.
There are 11 out-stations belonging to Ramingining Yatalamarra, Wulkarimirra, Ngangalala, Mulgurram, Garanydjirr, Galdjapin, Gattji, Gelirri, Manbbirri, Bundatharri and Gurulul.
Population
In the 2016 Census, there were 872 people in Ramingining (State Suburbs) Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people made up 92.3% of the population. The median age of people in Ramingining (State Suburbs) was 26 years.
Power and water
Electricity is supplied by diesel generators. Chlorinated water is supplied to the town via three bores which are situated on the town boundary. Three sewage ponds where wastewater is treated are also located on the town boundary.

Telephone services, land lines, mobile coverage and a public phone located near the Regional Council office.

AccessAir
There are regular passenger flights from Darwin to Ramingining through Fly Tiwi. Charter flights can be booked by various organisations from other destinations.
Road
Ramingining is accessible by road (4WD use only) during the dry season only. All roads to the community are closed during the wet season. Travel time from Darwin to Nhulunbuy is approximately eight hours (approximately 12 hours via Katherine). Travel time from Nhulunbuy to Ramingining is six to eight hours depending on road and weather conditions.
Local government
The East Arnhem Regional Council provides local government services in Ramingining. Its headquarters are located in Nhulunbuy with a service delivery centre located in Ramingining.
Land tenure
Ramingining is located within the Arnhem Land Aboriginal Land Trust and is Aboriginal Land under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976.

Visiting Contractors Quarters
The Ramingining Visiting Contractors Quarters has two separate blocks and is a short two-minute walk to the East Arnhem Regional Council Office, Community Store, Health Clinic and school. The area is fully fenced and has enough room for vehicles or a truck or two!
