Introduction

In this PowerPoint we will be presenting to you information about the steps that we took to make our Rangoli patterns.

We hope you enjoy!

Research As homework we had to do research on Rangoli patterns. We found out about why Hindus make

Rangoli patterns, the colours they use, the

patterns and what they are made of. We found

out that Hindus do Rangoli patterns outside their houses to welcome the Goddess Lakshmi to

their homes, they do this near the time of

Diwali.

InvestigatingIn our investigating

lesson we were looking at templates of different

Rangoli patterns. We were also finding out

how colour can change the symmetry in our

patterns. In addition we did work to do with symmetry drawing

shapes using a mirror line and small boxes

that were on the sheet to help us.

PlanningAfter we had finished

investigating we started planning our own designs

of Rangoli patterns on a 15 by 15 dot grid. At first we were in the pit for think of a design but as time went by we got the hang of it.

We found it very complicated in order to

keep our designs symmetrical ,we used

mirrors to help us so we found it easier. We used

patterns such as peacocks, flowers , circles and

squares.

Ratio and proportion

We had to start thinking about our ratio and proportion when we finished our plans. This would be the challenge.

Oh! Gosh, what am I

going to do now.

The final design

After we had finished our plans we had to move onto our final design. Three of our tables had to double

their plan. Two of our tables had one and a half x their plan. We had to use

ratio and proportion in order to enlarge our

Rangoli patterns. We were all in the pit but we all made it up in the end. I

think it was great to be in the pit because at the end

of the day we all had learnt something new!

I am in

the pit!

This is

hard Ini.

I can do it.

OH MAN!!!!

Oh no! I have to start again!
